Worried but hopeful

Halo CE (IMO) has been campaign of the decade. Sure new games came out and had better effects and better graphics, but that doesn’t effect the campaign too much. Halo CE played like a Sci-Fi thriller that kept you on your toes even to the end (that final Warthog run will be forever etched into my brain 'till the day I die . . .)

What I am worried about is the fact that Halo has already had many games come out of the franchise. At one point I had thought that Bungie/Microsoft just started milking the series. MY hope is that that milk (in this case creative campaign idea’s) hasn’t already run out. Looking at the other dozens of shooters with okay campaigns it seems like they have all started copying things from eachother. I’ll play one game and be reminded of one scene in another game I have played . . .

While multiplayer is important, I feel like the campaign is what initially pulls me into a game, and many other franchise’s have forsaken their campaigns for the multiplayer. While I wan’t the multiplayer to be good, I want the campaign to be memoriable.

I’m just worried that Halo 4’s campaign will be nothing special, and Microsoft is just waiting to collect every last drip of halo that they can squeeze out of the series.

I’m hopeful that since the origional story line has ended that my interest in Halo campaigns can be renewed in an amazing spectacle that could be Halo 4, 343i has many talented people working in it, I’m hoping that they can bring Halo up from the grave that it’s been so happily digging. While keeping the multiplayer fun.

What do you guys think?

Who wouldn’t enjoy a good campaign? Usually when I don’t feel like playing multiplayer I just go to campaign. At least this was the case with previous Halo games. I just didn’t like the Reach campaign. Anyway, future Halo games definitely need a memorable campaign.

Agreed. What I really loved about Halo 1 & 2 was that they had really fun campaigns that I could play again and again.

Yeah i’ve been playing retro campaigns alot lately cuz of anniversary…it just never gets old. Just the smallest things like goin up that elevator shaft being attacked by flood is so satisfying still. I believe in Frankie though, and Corrine to bring us a beautiful game on the technical side.
