So I’m feeling worried as of right now about what’s going to happen to the Master Chief at the end of Halo Infinite because I’m feeling worried that he might get killed off which so much of the community won’t accept. I’ve read some articles about Halo Infinite being the last game of the Forerunner Saga and possibly the last main installment game. I know there are some people that won’t agree with me because they want the Master Chief killed off which is fine if they think that way but me and a bunch of others don’t because it would be a horrible decision to make in a game that’s set in a timeframe where the Master Chief is rather just middle aged and isn’t too old to die yet and the year is 2560 in Halo Infinite. Also, some people point out the “Spartans never die. They’re just missing in action” statement and some say the Master Chief is like the Mario of Halo. Now if we were to give him which year to die in, I’d say have him die in the year 2585 in which he dies when he is in his 70’s just like what happened with Sergeant Johnson as he did die in his 70’s. So what could be happening with the Master Chief at the end of Halo Infinite or beyond that? I’d like to know already so I don’t keep feeling worried.
I see little reason to believe the Chief is dying anytime soon.
I don’t think they’ll kill off Chief until they’ve established a character that could take his place, which I can’t see 343 doing for a long time.
Some posters said that his voice sounded exhausted and strained in the demo, which I kind of felt as well. It maybe good acting to convey bleakness of their situation or the fact that he is voiced by a 70 year old person. Also there was the “Fight hard, die well” remark which some have taken as a hint that MC will be killed off. Personally, I don’t think 343i will go to that extreme since the lore has MC at middle age without taking into account the effects of cryosleep, which slows the aging process considerably. So I think there is a really good chance that MC will be in future expansions.
Thank you guys for pointing out the stuff with how MC isn’t going to die. I still doubted but worried that MC would die and you guys made statements that are true about the MC. Now I don’t feel worried. In fact, he might not even die at all (I do agree with CannonHorse that MC not dying is at least be the case until a character to replace him is made which 343i won’t be doing anytime right now) and perhaps there won’t be a year set up by the makers for him to die in. He’d probably be still in his cryosleep or MIA.

I’m pretty sure it’s not even in the forerunner saga as they want to distance them selves from it, hence the time jump and lack of 4 and 5 characters. Also, I think that if chief is killed off in the right way, there wont be much backlash. Of course there will always be a little bit but I do think it’s possible. Also, while I agree that I don’t want him to die, we have to face the fact that he’s voiced by Steve Downes who - I believe - has retired from his other jobs and at some point, he will stop being Chief. I don’t think Chief can be voiced by anyone else so he wont be able to be the ‘Mario’ of halo once he decides to stop. Personally, I’d rather have his arc finished rather then be left unfinished because he’s quit or be concluded in a book / comic.
Im more worried about everyone else than Master Chief from the info we have about Infinite.
Yesterday i read it’s gonna be Chief all the time, there will not be a sequel,in10 years of future planned just with Chief.
Where the heck are Blue team,Fireteam Osiris,Palmer,Lasky,Arbiter? Was hoping there would be some missions/side missions where we play as other Characters on other places or some dlc/expansion with other playable Character.
Yeah that’s what I thought about Halo 5. I’m sure they won’t with it being a “spiritual reboot” and all. That’d be stupid.
I highly doubt it, since the Chief is the poster boy for Halo and the Xbox. I’m sure Locke in 5 was their attempt to replace Master Chief so they could kill him off here, but since we know how that went, it’s very unlikely. Hell, they might have tried the same thing for Thorne in Spartan Ops and Palmer in those top-down shooters. And those all failed.
Master Chief is and always has been the mascot of xbox he will never be killed off
I think master chief should live but imagine if master chief was no longer master chief but a higher ranking officer
They won’t kill Chief. You don’t take the literal face of the console and kill them off. If 343 does kill him I hope MS just cans the writing department because there are literally zero reasons to kill Chief
I remember seeing and hearing rumors he might be killed off in Halo 3. In the end, relaxing on the beach sounds completely out of place for Master Chief. A Spartan in civilian life sounds like a fish out of water, which is likely why Bungie left him in cryo sleep. It was a happy middle ground that made sense, plus it was an homage to the beginning and end of Halo: Combat Evolved.
Obviously such rumors resurface again with the 343i lie campaign about “halo” 5, but I did not care due to how much of a mess the story already was before the game came out. I would be fine if they put him back in cryo sleep in the end again. Although I would be happy if at the end he woke up from from a nightmare in the Forward Unto Dawn.
After the ordeal with Spartan Locke in Halo 5, i am certain 343 won’t even DARE to push Master Chief in any other direction, than the spotlight itself. Nobody wants him gone, he is the face… well, ‘visor’ of Halo.
I really don’t think
