Worried about PC population

Anyone else in the same boat as me? Ive noticed a lot of people wont be picking it up just because of the store and that worries me. I had that problem with Gears 4, the multiplayer was dead short after launch.

The blitz beta had fast search times, i hope it carries over into launch.

Even though it is on multiple platforms I see it being not necessarily identical to gears population,but definitely in like Halo 4’s population territory of like 3 to 18 thousand

A bit. Some people still don’t even have W10, many people dislike the store (I personally had to download GoW4’s 70+gb four times), and as a storefront it drives almost no views. Where as every day millions of people view Steams promotions or the XBox One’s ads. Hopefully it has strong reviews and a large marketing push to start off well.

But generally Halo Wars 2 should be a matchmaking friendly game. Lower player counts means less population required, and the games typically last longer than your average shooter so you don’t have to search as often. I think it will be fine out of the gate, some playlists will probably fall off quickly but the basics (Standard/Blitz?) should last.

I wish there had been a base-building beta on PC though, they should be looking to attract traditional RTS players. The two most popular right now are Starcraft 2 (6.5 years old base release, no longer developing expansions) and Age of Empirse II HD (obviously ancient, though they’ve released new content)… there should be players to bring over but a card mode isn’t what’s going to draw that crowd. I also saw an alarming number of people online who thought Blitz was the core gameplay mechanic for all modes. Very unusual for a game a month from release to have a beta that exclusively features one sub-mode.

Anyway, personally I do have an XB1 and my HW1 friends are on there so I expect to mostly play 3v3 on XBox, and 1v1/2v2/campaign on PC. I think it will be fine for me.

I do hope that they add crossplay in due time, that way the PC population won’t really matter as much.
Mouse/Keyboard doesn’t really have much of an advantage over a controller in this type of game.

I mean the game was built with the console put first. In a normal RTS youd be right, but this specific game i don’t think so.

Everything from the base design to the grouping was made with a controller in mind first.
