Worried about campaign length

Joseph Staten stated that he finished the Infinite campaign twice within one week. Now one could argue that it’s his job to play and work on video games. Another person could argue that the game is just short. And that’s my worry.

Hope it’s not another 6-8 hour campaign. But at least 12-15 hours without doing any of the side quests. Especially since it’s semi open world.

What do y’all think?

Unfortunately, I would temper your expectations. While I would also love a lengthier (12-15 hour) campaign, I’d be willing to be it may be shorter. Now if/with any side quests/missions, you may increase the length, but I doubt you’ll hit the 15 hour mark. Not at launch at least. If they’re truly following a 10 year plan, I would be willing to bet there will be multiple campaign add-ons that will add a few hours each.

Even if they don’t make the final game super long, having more content appear in the (presumably free) updates like they did with Halo 5 would be fine to me. Especially being a completionist, I know people like me will want to complete every quest available, so maybe having a shorter campaign in lieu of more side quests and missions might be nice too. Ideally, though, I agree. Having a longer campaign would be the best option.

It should be at least 10 hours cause we Campaign fans are always getting the least amount of satisfaction from the longevity of a Halo game. The Campaigns are too short and then we wait years and years for new story.
What was said about Halo 5 Campaign length:8-12 hours on Normal difficulty,it was like barely 5 hours.

It was stated that the demo took place several hours into the Campaign and it’s $60 just to buy the Campaign. I think it’s safe to say the Campaign is gonna be pretty long

Idk this campaign will have A LOT to rap up I do not think it could possibly do that in 10 hours without completely ditching the story of H5 and the reclaimer saga. As much as I disliked H5 it would really frustrate me for them to just eviscerate continuity in that way. There is a way that they can tie this all together (presumably with an unlikely Didact return), but it requires a lengthy campaign. I don’t want this to be filled post launch either as DLC bc that story arc was literally the main line Halo storyline. It is not meant to be cleared up in post launch side content. I trust Joseph Staten’s opinion but damn if they brush over the events of the last games like they were nothing I am going to be very disappointed.

Keep in mind lads if this multiplayer is free we are probably going to be paying full price now for just a campaign. So in all honesty this campaign should be either cheaper or minimum two campaigns in one.

That’s my biggest concern. We shouldn’t miss out on single player content (same campaign length as an eg) or cover the cost for multiplayer (free with monetisations) content when it does not cost for everyone.

I could easily play through the campaigns of multiple previous Halos twice in one week–especially if it were my job. I’m more concerned about their “10 year plan” than this statement from Staten.

I just hope they don’t cut some stuff already there to sell it as dlc later.

Understandable and agreed, I love halo 4, but my first ever play through, not knowing anything about it, and I was done in 4 and a half hours  it didn’t feel complete, and that would suck if Infinite was something like that. If however it were to be like 12-15 hours story line only, that would be great. Then plus all the side missions they might add XD man, imagining a long halo game XD that would be so much fun XD

You could have a 20 hour campaign and it could be awful. You could have an 8 hour campaign and be the best in the series.

Substance is much more important than the overall length of a campaign.

Absolutely. I rank a shorter experience like Halo 3: ODST well above those of CE or even 3 and Reach. Better atmosphere. Better characters. Better story. All my opinion of course just so people don’t assume I’m being empirical.

I do think a longer campaign is twice completable on a single week.
Especially if he’s completed it before, and knows what to do.

I’m more worried that we’ll get some unsatisfactory cliffhanger ending either in the middle of a climax, or, it comes from nowhere and it just feels like they ran out of steam halfway through. Only to tease story DLC.

I think a 6-8hour, main story playthrough is to be expected. Additional ‘sidequests’/missions could bring it up to 10, but I highly doubt anything more.
Future DLC could add another couple of hours as well, but I think these DLC will have significantly more MP functions rather than campaign missions, especially since these additions could detract from the flow of the story. Unless, additions content adds current character arcs like some Arbiter( should he be in the game) or Spartan Locke, or even have a a small 3-4hour ODST sidestory that maybe takes place in parallel to the main campaign.

I’m a little lost when it comes to Halo Infinite’s campaign details. I once heard it will be longer than Halo 4’s and 5’s combined with a “massive landscape” but he said he beat it twice in a week. But I think that really varies on the player at the end of the day.

Since they will be selling the campaign only effectively with multiplayer f2p, I expect we will have more content in campaign. Not necessarily a long main story, but I think there will be lots of side missions and challenges to complete based on the glimpse of the map we saw in the campaign demo

Honestly I could finish the Witcher 3 twice in one week if I wanted to, It’s all about context. I think when they brought Joe on, he needed to gain a feel for the overall direction of the game, and see how it lined with how Halo stories can or should be told. Also, you can finish most Halo games twice in one day on easy-normal difficulty for even casual players if you have the time.

Yeah, the open world is going to add a ton of opportunities for more non-linear storylines

very true. Having non-linear storylines available should pair wonderfully with the pseudo-randomized encounters the game is known for assuming the enemy sandbox is programmed well enough this time around
