The Halo 5 worlds championship series for 2017 was announced, a big prize pool, lots of open lan events…but 12 teams? seriously? Of which 7 are NA and 3 EU? How can you call this Worlds? There is no Asia, 1 AUNZ and 1 South American. This has to change, it doesn’t matter if the prize money is reduced for the higher teams, it’s not about the money, especially when it’s “Worlds”. There has to be more teams for across the globe, make it like last Worlds, 16 teams, 8 Na, 4 eu, and more teams from across the world. Even if the champion and top 8’s are highly likely going to be NA and Eu teams it’s still important that other continents and countries are represented. Also on this subject why is there no MLG? Those people are amazing at holding tourneys. There may be some inside issues or just a lot of work but MLG is the biggest name in Esport, the name itself is marketing. This needs to be addressed, and only way that’s going to happen is if people make a fuss about it, so please make your voices heard, say something, say anything.
This…Sounds…Like a non issue.
Other countries and continents do not need to be represented and the reason why they are not is most likely due to them not having a team anyone. Not only that but why would they work with MLG when this seems to be an in house thing?
What? Do you want them to say “No more than 3 NA teams we need them other ones”
Yeah and America has won the baseball World Series 112 years running.
In the HCS, the best teams compete. It doesn’t matter where they’re from. We also need to acknowledge that Halo isn’t as popuular outside of America/EU. That’s why there aren’t many competitive teams on par with the NA teams.
Part of it is just the fact that outside of NA teams can’t really compete at the absolute top level. EU is the 2nd strongest region and has never had more than 1 team place in the top 8 in the same tournament with NA. LtnAm is growing but still not close, ANZ is just its own bubble.
Basically the fact that they get a chance to complete is what makes it ‘worlds’ but they don’t deserve equal representation.
Unrelated, I’ll be spending a weekend in Saint Louis next month competing against and watching the top teams qualify for worlds:)
NA and EU deserve their teams. TBH Australia is lucky to get even 1, 2 of their top, top players came to EU to “make pro league” and when they got here they were fairly average EU AM quality. Afriicas best team Vnco are even worse tbh. Latin America isn’t really up to much either. Dont even get me started on Asia.
Ultimately the majority of the best teams are NA. FabE proved they are substantially better than the 2 NA AM teams that made it to relegation’s, 3-0ing both in Vegas and have realistic prospects of making top 4, if any other team bar FabE outside of NA was to have a chance of making top 8 it would be an EU team. The latin american and AUS teams that make it there will not win a series (they will probably struggle to win a single game tbh).
the noobs aren’t represented
