Won't install to any Drive but C? Why?

I am having a crazy issue that is quite honestly really starting to irritate me. I have my windows store apps set to install to my E: drive which I use for my game storage. This game seems to ONLY want to install onto my C: drive which is my SSD for boot (windows) which to be frank does not have the space to store games. All of my settings are as they need to be and still nothing.

On another note I did free up space on my SSD just to install hoping that once it was installed I could go into “Apps & Features” I could then just move the install to my E: drive like any other game. The answer is no this is not working for me either and I for the life of me cannot understand why. It pops up an ERROR code 0x80073cfc but I test installed a small xbox app game (hello neighbor) onto my SSD and was able to move to my E: drive with no issues.

Am I going crazy here or are we hard locked to only installing to main drive on PC?

I am in the same boat as you, my C drive is just for the OS, I install Games on another drive, my C drive is a small SSD.
I was shocked to realise the makers of Windows wont let you install the game anywhere but the C drive.
its irritating as hell. needs fixing

[EDIT] I uninstalled this game, then from my Library on the Microsoft Store, I re-installed it, this time it let me choose where to install it
so job done

And did it work until now? I have done the same but after I few days of reinstalling the game on D drive I got an error.

Same problem. I have a very modestly sized SSD for my OS (C:). The HMCC started installing w/o asking me (I just purchased it with the intent to install at a later date) and then it started devastating my C: drive. I install windows games to my D: drive, which the installer happily ignored. I went to Settings/System/Storage and changed the new storage location from D: to another drive I have - F:. I then cancelled the installation on my C: drive, closed the Store, reopened the Store and began installing. Happy days - it worked! Fingers crossed the game/collection actually works.

Tried this, no avail…

Wondering if years on there’s been any support regarding this issue?
Halo’s installed itself to C: Drive instead of D which is fine provided I never want to put anything on my C: Drive ever again.
I noticed weirdly enough that Sea Of Thieves went to D: Drive where I direction it, but MCC ignores the drive location.
Heeeeeeelp

I just got my 8TB SSD, did some partitions to separate things and left windows partition with just enough for windows itself and now I found I can’t install halo mcc on the games partition. WTH! It’s the only game I own that has this limitation. I won’t use up all the remaining space of the system partition just for this. I hope the devs fix this huge annoyance.
