Wondering about Infinite’s battle pass

So I have a couple questions
First, if I do not buy a battle pass, does that mean that certain items are locked like in other free tracks or do I just not keep it forever but I get all of the stuff?
Second, if I don’t buy it straight away, and the season ends, I do not get access to that pass, but can I go back and purchase it later after the season ends or do I only have a limited time to buy it?
Third and finally, do you buy them with cR or with real money?

(Extra thought) Are cR earned by normal gameplay, challenges or just outright buying them?

  • Passes can be bought at any time after release. You can choose which pass you progress through.
  • Passes are bought with cR, which are a premium currency bought with money, I’m not sure if you can earn them.
  • Passes have a free tier which can get you some unlocks. From what we’ve seen in flighting it’s mostly challenge skips.

Edit from future me: Release battle pass is valued at 2000cR (US$20). cR can only be bought, and cannot be earned.

I’d keep in mind 343 has said that the Flight Battle Pass doesn’t 100% reflect what the BP will be at launch. I certainly hope that the free track has some cosmetics on it.

You have to pay $100 for a Halo game in first year, campaign + all multiplayer content/unlocks (4 seasons Battle Pass).

They never talk about whether you can earn cR in game.

Imagine if Halo 5 set price to $100 for the first year.

If you wanted to unlock all the armour and weapons from the Req packs, unless you were prepared to spend hundreds of hours in the game you would need to spend more than $100 to get all the content in H5 in one year. That’s also a false equivalence, Halo 5 isn’t Halo Infinite. Just because Halo 5’s campaign didn’t justify full price on its own, doesn’t mean Halo Infinite’s won’t. If Halo Infinite provides a high quality, large scale, open campaign between 12-15 hours long then I am perfectly happy to spend $60 on it. I’ll then buy a BP if I like the armour inside it, and I won’t if I don’t. It’s optional extra content, I can spend the money if I see value, and skip them if I don’t.

Edit: What on the world I think I posted this response to the wrong thread, ignore me.

I understand your worries but you also have to understand this is a mp game in 2021. The difference between MCC and Infinite is one is a brand new money maker, the other is a love letter to old fans who’s purpose is not to bring in a ton of $$$. I’m honestly surprised the BP is only $10 considering that it’s better than any other game’s BP because of the fact it doesn’t expire.

You can play the Halo Infinite multiplayer for $0 a year if you want to. When you think about the battle pass we’re getting 100 tiers of content for $10 every 3 months and the battle pass never expires. Even if we assume we only get a cosmetic unlock every other tier that’s still 200 cosmetic unlocks a year for $40. That would have cost like $500 in Halo 5 buying req packs and those cosmetics were not only copy & paste but you never knew what you were going to get from the box and you HAD to buy the game for $60 to even get in the door. Infinite’s monetization is a million times better excluding the paid armor coatings. The game just needs an XP progression system. And I don’t mind the campaign being $60, it’s supposed to be the longest most expansive campaign ever made for Halo which alone makes it worth the money but at the same time you can also unlock items for MP, and I like the idea that we could get expansions like Destiny to continue the story.

You missed the point. You have to grind in both H5 and Halo Infinite. I don’t spend a buck in H5 still have 3.6 millions cR now.

from what I´d read, the battle pass seems very similar to the royale pass of clash royale, even in price are similar.
