First off let me state that, I myself cant enjoy Halo 4 because of its changes. That being said because of Halo 4 not having a beta, I see thats where most of the negative feel for this game comes from. For what effing reason 343i decided to not have a public beta is beyond me, but because of that decision, they failed to appeal to the fans themselves, at least most of the community and veteran players. I dont see them coming back.
Even if they did have a Beta it wouldn’t have resulted in yet again another overhaul for Halo 4. They would have just had the nerfs and buffs in.
I dont even think a beta would have helped that much we would all have thought that it wasnt finished yet and we would be dissapointed at launch. there would have been a boltshot nerf and thats about it. Its sad that i almost put a month playing time on reach (also sad) and halo 4 cant even keep me playing for 3 matches.
They had their date in the sand, and were committed to make it. FUD - we’ll make that a download, because we can’t ship it (even though that was what I was promised), theater issues, all those.
A beta might have identified them, but would they have pushed it back? Now they are ALMOST at the ready point, but they have chased away too many players.
CSR will not save Halo 4. Too many people have gone. Populations across the playlists are too small for games to get allocated properly.
Halo 4 might have turned out differently if there was a beta for it.
There was no Beta because they didn’t want to slow down production, also Microsoft had a set date…primarily to compete with BlOps II.
If there was a beta, it would’ve changed a lot of things. The most important one, would be when people played it, and they didn’t like because it was too similar to other FPS’ amd there were too many changes for example, they would question actually purchasing the game.
What could we have found that 343i couldn’t with a beta?
They felt confident in their work and also thought the beta was a waste of time and resources, considering they have beta testers playing the game to the teeth of it’s existence. We see now a beta may have been necessary but I don’t blame them for their decision.
