The title says it all. With Xbox One not supporting LAN functionality, I’ll be hard pressed to buy it. This trend started to show with Halo 4, which ran terribly over split screen, so LAN wasnt really even ever a consideration for my friends and I. For that matter, who knows if Halo will even support split screen of more than 2 players.
I’m hoping 343 will encourage LAN functionality for Halo 5, if only for that game. I can honestly say, that while I enjoy LIVE play and all, nothing will beat throwing 4 consoles and TV’s (Numbers adjusted as seen fit of course) and Having a LAN party all night with your friends. I have one Every year with a huge number of people, and we buy copies and DLC for the whole event as needed. However if this is implemented, I dont know that I’ll really keep with HALO.
What do you guys think? Do you feel LAN is integral to what makes Halo, Halo? What about tournaments of all sizes? It just breaks the formula in my opinion.
You can have up to eight xbox one controllers connected to the same console which is double the amount of the 360 and PS4 if that helps. Also Microsoft is trying to go for the home family entertainment system so it would make sense for LAN support
The only reason that split screen declined with Halo 4 was due to the game literately pushing the 360 to its limits, so with Halo 5 being an X1 exclusive, I can assure you that that won’t happen again.
I for one would like LAN to be in H5 and many other games. Just because a lot of us have high speed Internet now, doesn’t mean we don’t like getting together with our friends in person to play sometimes.
Perfect ex. Army of two for 360… it’s called ARMY OF TWO and we can’t even do LAN!!! really???
WEAK!
of course h5 will have LAN DONT THINK 343 THAT DUMB
sorry but i think you are asking for a feature that would be unnecessary for most people interested in HX1

I can’t find anything that says xbox one cannot manage LAN parties.
This

says you can and gives instructions.
IDK if it is correct tho.
LAN is absolutely necessary for Halo. I couldn’t imagine a game that my friends and I could have epic 16 person LAN parties on in 2001 lose that functionality… It just seems so ingrained in the Halo experience.
I actually am kind of worried about Microsoft making the next Halo online only like they did with spartan ops, especially with all the talk about using their dedicated servers now.
I miss those days. Actually, was Halo 4 even capable of System Link Play? Part of me doesn’t recall being able to unless the user was connected to Xbox LIVE.

Wasn’t it also because the game didn’t attempt to scale back unnecessary detail so the game was basically trying to run 2 single player screens as the same time?
Holy you just reminded me of the good days doing system link over halo 3 and halo 2. Ahhhh them memories.
The xbox 360 is an outdated console and Halo 4 was a massive game pushing the xbox to the limits, but the xbox one is next gen so we won’t see a game push it to that limit as of yet. I just hate how games are becoming more and more internet dependent, with updates and DLC all the time. I want to buy a game, and that game be actually ready to be purchased with everything you need in it.
If the Halo 5 does not have a good multiplayer, then to me it won’t even matter if it can support LAN or not because I won’t really want to play it and my friends especially won’t want to play it.
That being said, however, if 343 does NOT include LAN then it definitely won’t be halo anymore. Halo got big because of fact that you could play LAN with your friends. The most fun I’ve had playing video games has been playing halo with mine and my brothers friends between a couple of TVs. Heck, we still get together once in a while to play some Halo 2 LAN.
I doubt Xbox One isn’t able to hold LAN.
