withdrew my pre-order for HALO:CEA

yup, today i went to gamestop and withdrew the 10$ i had on halo:cea…got myself left 4 dead 2.

i think the problem is that ive been playing too much halo reach, and its come to the point were nothing that this new company does can make me want to play more…ive even grown bored of “playing for fun”. i was hoping that halo:cea wold come with some new armor so that i could atleast have some motivation or drive to keep playing not to mention im a forerunner and have about 3.7 mil cR sitting there for nothing…trust me you have to REWARD players to actually stay playing reach, thats how bad it is. its like working a job for free. and NO some recycled old “new” maps isnt enough for me.

the future of the halo franchise/ universe is getting darker and darker, as 343 steers it unto an endless void. maybe they dont have the passion that bungie had for the game/fans, all ive been noticing is alot of recyling coming from what appears to be a lazy newbie company…

I’ll take more maps over more armor any day, especially if they’re maps that are not forge variants. To each their own.

If you’re only playing the game for some useless digital armor then you shouldn’t be playing period. I play for fun, always have done, always will do. I don’t care if CEA comes with armor or not.

I have the game and the maps are amazing and filled with secrets and the campaign is just godly. I uploaded some gameplay of it to my channel and one of the first comments I got was commenting on a dislike. It said this:

“The dislike was from a MW3 fanboy angry because we got a better remake than he did, ucwutididthar?”

If you’re not getting Halo CEA just because it doesn’t come with something that can tart your virtual character up a little more…then I have nothing to say to you, enjoy L4D2. Even though that game is a colossal waste of time.

why cant we have both?

Did you not know that Anniversary isn’t just new maps and stuff for Reach?

Its a complete remaster of Halo Combat Evolved, the game that started it all, with the ability to see the game exactly as it was 10 years ago, several new Easter Eggs, terminals that will show more of 343 Guilty Spark’s story and hint to Halo 4, skulls to make the gamepaly more interesting, 7 remade maps for Halo Reach, GRD Dolls as Easter Eggs in those, Kinect support, etc. You didn’t want this!? As a Halo fan, this was the gift of a lifetime. Well, have fun shooting zombies while we, the proud owners of the campaign of the decade, blast our way through the game that pretty much started fps on the console.

so a remake of a 10 yar old game isnt?

meh… i’ll buy it when its $15

> trust me you have to REWARD players to actually stay playing reach, thats how bad it is

It’s funny, but that seems to be true for the majority of Reach players. That’s why whenever there’s a cR jackpot in a particular playlist the population -Yoinking!- ing booms! Even if it’s in a terrabad playlist like Team ‘Classic’. People will still play it to get those shiny cR.

sigh
Reach players play for cR and virtual armour because the actual gameplay sucks.

Just slightly less than a remake of a game made just over a year prior. And with minimal upgrades, bought 2 years later.

> …ive even grown bored of “playing for fun”.

Your logic is astoundingly bad. I don’t care whether you buy HCE or not, but your reasons are so incredibly haphazard that they suggest a troll. You clearly have no knowledge of what made the Halo franchise great, you have no knowledge of Bungie or 343 (which is made up of core Halo developers from Bungie), and your taste in video games is questionable (if you choose L4D2 over HCE, rather than with it).

Admittedly, HCE is more of a gift for dedicated Halo fans, by which I don’t mean “hardcores”. I mean those that play Halo because they like it not only as a franchise, but as a universe. If you’re not in that group, that’s fine. All you need to say is “Halo no longer interests me. I’ll play something else for a while.” Instead, you try to lay the blame on the game and its developers by citing a lack of inconsequential features and ignoring everything else.

In any case, the problem of boredom lies on you, who admitted to putting in uncountable hours with Reach. Clearly there’s something there you like.

As for the whole “it’s a remake” thing, some of us, myself included, never actually owned Halo: Combat Evolved. I played a borrowed game, so this “remake” is an excellent opportunity for me without having to buy the game again.

Really? This isn’t Halo 4 you know that right? It’s been a measly YEAR since Reach came out. And you already expect so much? Especially when Halo made a complete change from one studio to another? That’s really a lot to expect… i’m sorry XD Halo does have its faults, but doesn’t every game? I think CEA looks like a blast and I look forward to it <3 I just think it sucks you’ll be missing out now

Eh it posted on my husbands account gosh darnit.

Um yeah… maybe the halo franchise is getting darker for YOU, but halo reach is still the #4 most played game on xbox live. The future of halo is still strong and its a shame you somehow burnt yourself out on it lol.

Hope you enjoy Left 4 dead XD

A dedicated Halo Fan might not think that. Ive been playing Halo since November 15, 2001. This is my child hood coming back to me with new stuff

This.

Says it all about this generation really - attention span of a fish

You’ve not really given up playing for fun when you needed to be motivated to play for reward / play for credits.

If you truly wanted to play for fun, the idea of having to be rewarded wouldn’t factor into it.

It’s sad that players actually prefer getting new armor over new maps…

:’(

when it comes to halo fans, i might as well be top #3…im not some 12 year old that was introduced to the franchise since halo3, no im 22 and ive been playing the game since the original xbox. even in halo 2 i was a level 50 #11 in the world on b.net, ive got the toys/shirts/board games…you name it ive got it…

my problem is that i feel that this new company is trying to make a quick buck out of a series that has been dear to me for so long, and now it seems they will be going down the path of Call of Duty…the future for halo looks bleek, and even a hardcore halo fan as myself is coming to terms with that

I don’t even think that’s the problem - you give gamers an inch and they believe they are entitled to a mile.

You are saying that nothing is going to come to Halo: Reach? That is the whole title update, with some new maps. 5 new maps. I mean, what more can you ask for?

People have taken Halo Reach too seriously. Way too seriously. Enjoy the game with all its madness. Use it to drive you to do better. Play the game because you want to. Not because the only incentive is to look cooler than everyone else.
