With sprint and AAs, I'm worried we have to claw

Seriously. The controller is running out of buttons, and if we’re going to have to do trick stuff like do a sprinting crouch jump into a jetpack while shooting and aiming properly, I’m worried we’ll have to hold the controller awkwardly.

Well with all of these inclusions, I’m hoping 343 at least planned out a decent controller setup. I’m worried too, but we’ll see in due time.

i agree. i have used bumber jumper for many years now, but it feels bad in reach because of aa’s.

Why would you crouch? Jumps Sprint jump into Jetpack(That sounds beast.).

Been clawing since H2. It’s awkward at first, but now it’s more natural than holding a controller normally to me.

Clawing really isn’t that hard to get used to. I"ve been doing it for years. If your hands are too small buy a razr onza or similar controller with the extra bumpers.

I don’t want to claw. Period. Other FPS games out on the market don’t require clawing, and I don’t want to strain my hand because one game thought it was a good idea to add more than the console could handle.

Heres an idea:

Right trigger=fire weapon

Left trigger=throw grenade

Right bumper=sprint

Left bumper=AA

X=reload/action

Y=switch weapon

A=jump

B=melee

Maybe the D-pad switches grenades
Same as it’s always been for the thumbsticks

Sounds good, That could work.

Clawing helps in any shooter. I use my index finger far more in CoD and GoW than I do in Reach/H3.

i played bumperjumper all halo 3 and on reach i changed to default again it took me like 3 days to get used to it is not a big deal to change layouts.

im sure theres going to be a classic playlist for all the Q_Q babies.

A = jump
Y = change weapons
X = pick up/reload
B = crouch
LS = sprint
RS = aim
LT = grenades
LB = armor ability
RT = fire
RB = melee
Dpad = change grenades

please 343 we need this time a custom layout slot

I have one, and it has a learning curve of about a month to really get use to not hitting both bumpers and to really get your mind use to knowing you have all those options right there. Also it’s not of the same quality as MS pads. Yesterday I was having my camera move without touching the stick, and before that, like a month ago the wire was pinching somewhere and it changed the senstivity of the sticks. So instead of an 8 like usual, it would all of a sudden drop to a 4 or something and I couldnt played like that, and when I unplugged it and reset it I found my sensitivity to be stupidly fast, screwing up my aim.

I only bought the pad this year. But yeah. My sprint and AA will be on the left bumpers. With Melee and Reload on the right.

Bunny hopping and Ducking isn’t my style.

I’d prefere this.

Left Stick: Sprint

Right Stick: Zoom

Left Bumper: AA

Right Bumper: Jump

Left trigger: Grenade

Right Trigger: Discharge Weapon

B: Melee

Y: Switch Weapon

X: Pick Up weapon/Reload

A: Crouch?

You’re probably going to have to use the d-pad to switch between sprint and your AA. It will most likely be the same layout as Reach.

Hopefully I can just play a playlist without derp abilities

A - Jump
B - Melee
X - Swap nades
Y - Switch Weapons

RT - Shoot
LT - Throw nades
RB - Reload/ Action
LB - Use for current selected ability

LS - Crouch/ move
RS - Aim/ Zoom

Start - Pause
Back - Check score

D-Pad Left - Light off
D-Pad Right - Light on
D-Pad Up - Switch between Sprint and AA
D-Pad Down - Lower Weapon

That’s the way I’d personally like it since I’d just be using sprint most of the time anyway. Plus I liked Halo 3’s reloading mechanic more than Halo CE or 2. Easier to just use my trigger finger to reload, it’s not like I can do both at the same time anyway . . .

Cheers, that really helps solve the controller problem, and doesn’t at all come across as a pointless “hurr durr how much can I spam AA hate everywhere” comment.

OT, if nade switch is made part of the D-pad (given we have 4 nade types, this would actually be pretty good, as we can reach a desired nade type quicker) then there are enough free main buttons for Sprint and AA usage to both get their own.

Also on the controller problem: with more actions to perform, the idea of confining people to a limited preset selection of controller layouts becomes even more of an issue. We could really do with a custom button mapper.

Same here. Nice part about it is I use it more than just in Halo. Its been a nice ability in many other games for me, plus i believe it makes the player very adaptable.

why not just make sprint L3 like all the other games. It’s the most logical place for a sprint button.

The next xbox controller needs to have the whole alphabet not just Y,X,B and A
