Alright so many of us already know the whole situation regarding the Battle pass system. (But I’m still going to complain about it). For starters as it currently stands its almost 1:1 of Fortnite’s old Battle pass system (three daily challenges and one or two weekly challenges and unlike fortnite there’s no traditional XP/leveling system at all alongside challenges).
Gears 5 also kinda did this but at least it had an XP and leveling system. On top of that when Fortnite started chapter 2 they revamped the XP system to include a ton more things to help make the grind less tedious.
So far I can already see Halo Infinite being a tedious grind to rank up in the battle pass but honestly I still think this is the wrong way to go. For starters they’re aiming for an archaic battle pass progression system when they already made a near perfect system in halo MCC. tons of weekly challenges for both PVE and PVP and getting points based on leveling up plus (and this was a huge one) unlocking things in a tier system instead of the numerical approach (picking between 1-10 at my leisure just feels much better than slowly making my way up 1 to 2 to 3 to 4, etc.)
I honestly dont get it (well i do, its a f2p system now so of course theyre going to push for this) but even then what’s the point of XP boosts? The only xp we get is from completing challenges! So should I intentionally just get all my challenges to about 3/4 finished then top off with an XP boost to get that bonus? Just such a dumb way to do it when they couldve just double downed and improved on what they made with MCC’s battle pass.
I completely disagree, MCC’s system is wack. why give me season points to spend on unlocks when I have to buy every unlock no matter what to progress? its a waste of time. and why are the challenges to acquire these points so specific?
infinite’s challenges are a lot more straightforward (play matches, win matches, get pistol kills, etc) and seeing the XP bar progress towards a higher level after completing every match is a lot more reminiscent of older games.

It doesnt progress every match though. Saturday I had completed my weekly objectives, so the only thing left was dailies. At that point the challenge was to play 5 games.

fair point. still just do not like most of MCC’s challenges. “you killed 5 enemies with a single rocket launcher shot while balancing on top of a banshee 3 times, heres 1 point to spend on an individual item”. in infinite you just play matches, get xp, level up your BP automatically. feels simpler.
That’s a really good point! I hadn’t even thought of that. I’m thinking about it a agree, the MCC battlepass is much better. And gives you much more flexibility when choosing which passes to upgrade.
I guess this one is fundamentally different and it’s based on the XP to upgrade. Rather than pass points.
Yes, XP boosts seem pointless what if I put one on and then don’t get my challenges completed. Then it’s a complete waste? I know that’s unlikely that I’d complete none. But still, it feels pointless to use them.
From what I gather there is going to be more daily challenges, not just complete matches and the weekly ones seem fairly varied. But they’ll need more weekly ones to make it more challenging. Right now I’m getting nearly all the weekly and daily challenges don’t in a 4 hour play session and then in the next section I almost had the capstone finished.

But it’s not really like that is it? An assortment of weekly challenges in the challenge hub rn: “Earn 10 multi kill medals”, “Earn 10 objective medals”, “Win 3 social matchmade games”, “Get 25 sniper kills”, “Defeat 3 enemies with environmental explosions (aka fusion coils)”. Out of all of those the last one is by far the most specific and even that is pretty manageable.
I can’t look at many challenges in infinite rn, because they won’t load, but one that I can see is called *Not so fast: “Kill 3 enemy spartans trying to return their flag”*Now that’s not all that difficult to do, but I think you would agree that it’s at least not less specific than the fusion coil challenge form mcc. Of course there are also more general challenges in HI like “play any match” but so are there in mcc.
I agree that Ininite needs another system in the battle pass. But I don’t think that one like TMCC’s is the right one, or at least the way to get points should be changed.
There are people with more than 200 points accumulated and 10 minutes after starting a new season, they have already reached the maximum level when we have three months to finish it. It is simply ridiculous
The way XP boosts are implemented make no sense with how the BP XP system works. You get 30 minutes to complete challenges and that’s it. The XP boost would make waaay more sense if it was something along the lines of ‘your next 3 challenges completed will grant double XP’. With gaining no XP through just playing matches (like in the MCC) it kinda feels like they want you to just buy a ton of double XP tokens to make them actually effective, especially if you are playing a lot in one day. After playing like 10 matches in a day your ‘Complete X matches’ is at like 3 or 4 for the same amount of XP (100) so your entire double XP token would be used up in the 30 minutes it takes to play those matches.
It needs a little of both honestly. Enough challenges to keep a steady progression with an XP system that gives you points for playing. The flaws in MCC are that you only get 12 points a week and stop getting points after level 100. They need a fixed amount of XP for leveling up with challenges being a bonus to whatever you earn from playing. From there, you get unlocks for leveling up. 2xp makes more sense because it will double your XP from the game and you can still use challenges swaps for bonus XP (and 2xp would not apply to these).
