My team controlled 2/3 bases the entire match, got most boss takedowns (they got the legendary ones) yet still managed to lose. How when essentially we dominated the game, we controlled the Map the entire game mind you (2/3bases)? Hows the scoring work? What’s most important tasks to achieve victory?

The legendary bosses are the biggest points haul. The minor ones help, but aren’t as crucial. I’ve won matches while triple capped by getting the boss kills.
I agree with comedyshermit. I have been on a team that won against a team with 2/3 bases because we got the legendary enemies. We also killed more spartans in the process which added to that.
