I’ve been frustrated lately with matchmaking. I play a lot of Objective and I’ve finally just gotten fed up with losses I couldn’t really do much about.
Whether they are simply novice players, or skilled players whose only reason in the game is to get a bunch of kills, and they don’t care if we win or lose, there is a wide range of crappy match ups.
So first, if you want kills, go play FFA, SWAT or Slayer. I don’t think you’re cool for getting 30 kills at the end if we lose. All I see is a big fat zero for your ball/flag carry time or hill time or whatever.
Now then, probably the more prominent issue is if people are still getting used to the game or learning to play, the novices out there.
It doesn’t take much time and effort to make some small tweaks to your gameplay that will generate HUGE IMPROVEMENTS. Just take a bit of time and educate yourself. You want to win, don’t you? Here’s a few examples, and I’d hope the community can help with a bunch more:
If you like Capture the Flag:
*Learn where each flag is and the shortest distance between them. Learn alternate routes as well.
*Learn the common entrances to your flag that enemies will use.
*Communicate with your team on what you’re doing (Capturing or Defending)
If you like Oddball:
*When your teammate has the ball, stay near him and protect him at all times
*If you’re the only one near the ball, pick it up!!!
*When the enemy has the ball, your #1 goal is taking out the carrier
*If an enemy carrier is constantly moving, help your team FLANK HIM
If you like King of the Hill:
*First one is a big one and an easy one: GO TO THE FREAKING HILL
*Learn where the hills spawn on each map.
*Watch the hill timer and incoming hill waypoint and act accordingly.
*Get IN the hill to contest it so the enemy isn’t scoring while you fight.
*Don’t spam grenades, use them wisely and not with teammates in front of you
And no matter what, play as a team, and play to accomplish the objective.
Anywho, sorry for the long post, I just feel like a little bit of effort and applying some fundamentals will help a lot of the people.
