While I haven’t suffered any ill effects from it (thank god) I encountered a bit of an awkward error message. I was playing the MCC shortly after the Halo 2 update released, and while I middle of a campaign match windows 10 decided to restart my computer and push the update, despite selecting the “wait until later” option earlier. The MCC collection and steam were shut down crashing me to desktop and for couple seconds an error windowed popped up saying “easy-anti cheat violation detected”, then windows restarted computer and installed the updates. I’ve not gotten any official warnings, suspension, or ban notifications (again, thank god).
However, I wanted to post this information here for 343 / Microsoft and the community to be made aware, and beware of. Easy Anti-Cheat may detect you as “cheating” even though all you are doing is being forced into a windows update. According to my windows 10 update history, this was on May 12, 2020 for the update listed on Microsoft’s support site here:
