Windows 8 App, Surface App, and Windows Phone

When are we going to see a windows 8 specific app. Not just a waypoint website. Windows 7 and now windows 8 don’t have a specific app developed for it. There should be one setup for it. One of the big things that I saw on TV was a surface tablet with a halo waypoint specific app what was developed and worked side by side with Halo 4. Another thing when is the windows phone waypoint app going to be updated to include Halo 4 instead of just Halo: Reach? These are just a few questions that I’m trying to get answered.

343 has since moved beyond platform specific apps. Since each platform (iOS, Windows Phone, Android, etc.) would require its own app they would all require their own development and updates. Instead they use a web app. You can save both the Halo Waypoint site and the Halo 4 Stats web page to your desktop and/or the home screen of your preferred device and access it from there.

As for the Windows 8 Halo 4 App. It’s actually built into the Xbox Smart Glass. Smart Glass acts as a remote control and push device that allows you to control your Xbox from whatever your preferred device may be. Smart Glass is available for Windows 8 devices and iOS. I’m not sure about Android.

Hope that helps.

The Waypoint website and stat section is actually optimized for touch screen and mobile phones which I do appreciate mostly when I’m on my Surface RT. I haven’t tried it on a phone as of yet but I’m confident it probably would render the same results.

I would much prefer a standardization toward HTML5 throughout the industry but they still have a long way to go compared to native apps.
