Note: Do not play Regicide if you care about your K/D.
Do not become the first VIP. Instead, kill the first VIP. If you are successful, you are now in the lead.
If you become the VIP, do not get any kills and try to die as quickly as possible; fire randomly in the air, stand still, walk backwards–do what you have to do. This will prevent your VIP bonus from increasing and (hopefully) make someone else the VIP.
When not the VIP, kill everyone except the VIP, unless the VIP has a +35 bonus. This should keep you at or near VIP status. Try not to become the VIP, but if you do, refer to the previous tip.
Around 250 (or a score you are comfortable maintaining VIP status), become the VIP and begin dominating. If done right, and you manage to pull VIP from someone at this stage, you will be able to end the game with a minimum of 3 kills (a maximum of 5).
Yes, it sounds crazy, but it works. I also hate this gametype because it’s so easy to manipulate the score in this way.
You are actually making it harder to win (for yourself) by “just playing the game”. The only foreseeable advantage to being the VIP is obtaining the Overshield, but even that does not outweigh the cost.
It does work, and having everyone come to you is not the best way to get kills; it doesn’t increase your potential to get kills. In fact, it increases your potential to die.
The only way you are going to survive a 2 vs. 1 encounter against two equally skilled players is the Overshield or Ordinance. Starting weapons and “skill” aren’t enough, I’m afraid. Sure, you might land a grenade, but if they are equally skilled, then the chances of that are slim (unless you are bad and they suck, too).
Of course, if you are just the best at Halo (a God, perhaps), then I guess you don’t need to worry about such things. I am, though, talking about reality–a place will you will find equally (if not, more) skilled opponents.
There is some truth to this. Killing anyone when not King and trying to be King throughout the match makes it easier for it to be anyone’s game.
This is how the gametype is designed. For there to be a neck-a-neck sprint toward the endgoal.
I played similarly to what’s described here when going for the Deposed Challenge. (Note: There are 2 Deposed challenges, the daily that requires you to score 10 Regicides in a single match, and the weekly that requires 18 Regicides.) I waited for the first King to appear at the beginning of the match and went after him, then ran around until someone else stole the crown with regular kills. Then I went after that King, completely ignoring anyone else. I followed this process and on more than one occasion I win the match without trying to, where I’m simply focused on Regicides.
Always end up with 9-13 Regicides in either 1st place or 2nd.
