Yeah I feel like uninstalling after doing these stupid challenges that stop me actually playing the game, spend a bunch of games throwing to run over 10 people, get 5 killing sprees, hey wanna play ranked screw u you’ve got dun\bb challenges to do if you want the reward. Honestly I’ve never been more mad at a halo game.
I got banned for replying to this post
OH MY GOD. I’m on this forum just to discuss the INFINITELY frustrating experience I’ve had. HOLY SMOKES.
First of all I have spent way too many wasted hours not having fun only to complete challenges. I’m on my final challenge, to get 10 kills with the pulse carbine, which can be challenging since in almost any one on one fight even just an AR usually beats me - people easily dodge the slow pulse shots.
ANYWAY, I get my 10 kills, counting EVERY SINGLE ONE to make sure it shows the weapon I used was the pulse carbine for the kill. I do this over two games, the first game I count 5 and get 5. The second game I count 8 kills with it, but when I finish I’m only at 7/10?! WHAT?
BUT HERE IS THE WORST PART: THE GUN ISN’T ALWAYS ON THE MAP. WHY? Because of this silly gun swapping on the map nonsense, which is fine, except if you’re going to have challenges based on specific guns. THEN in NON RANKED, where players are easily replaced by bots or other players and the stakes are low, YOU STILL GET BANNED FOR LEAVING??? There’s no message saying you’ll get banned, so I assumed since players fill in you won’t, I guess I WAS WRONG LUKCY ME. So now you HAVE TO SIT THROUGH LONG GAMES WITHOUT THE GUN AVAILABLE or get banned. IT’S UNBELIEVABLE.
I am so so sorry for all of my caps lock but I have never in my life been more frustrated with a game. This is unbelievably bad design and it absolutely tortures players. I can’t believe this is what Halo has become. This franchise used to inpsire and excite me, now playing it is literally making me absolutely miserable.
Thanks Ken - I hope next weeks is just as frustrating.
Haha yeah frustrating - the carbine is a terrible gun to kill with. I think considering the gun, the challenge should be 10 kill assists if it’s on a basic achievement.
I had the same issue when I got 10 kills with the sword. Spent hours in quick play and big team battle looking for one. But cause it’s a power weapon sometimes it’s a hammer not the sword or not at all.
Thankfully I figured if you go on to ranked play it comes up on there more often. So lucked out as they are not rotated either.
My final weekly challenge was to get five killing sprees. So I guess I lucked out.
Got it tonight. I’m really disappointed that the armor coating is only for the mk VII armor set. It looks good! You would think that doing all that work to unlock a coating would open it for all sets, but it seems that short of spending TEN DOLLARS the only options for the mk V core is the 2 variations of blue and 4 more colors from the BP, which is really unfortunate, and really feels very greedy and unpleasant. I’d be much happier with it if challenges unlocked universal coatings/visors/accessories.
The Ultimate Challenge is the same for everyone. The weekly challenges are different for everyone. So one player can have easy weekly challenges going into the Ultimate pretty quick or they could get hard challenges that would take all week.
It does take almost all the fun out of it. Especially if the Ultimate reward is nothing special. Makes me not want to even go for challenges. Now, if the reward was legendary and unique (not some cheap “rare” reward), then I’d be happy to grind for it. At the same time, I don’t feel the challenges should take away from actually playing the game modes. And that’s exactly what they do. There are so many other ways to keep matches enjoyable.
Also, there are many other threads about customization and challenges, I think the point will come across sometime. And, I have my fingers crossed that some big changes will take place when the full game releases. I’m staying optimistic, knowing that this is a “beta”.
It didn’t take me too long to get the weekly and Ultimate complete, especially with spending time with family for Thanksgiving, but I’ve put in about 60-70 matches since, and it’s been progressively more boring each match I play. I try to switch between quick play, BTB, and ranked to keep what little interest I still have. I keep telling myself to hang in there until the campaign releases. But after the campaign, if there isn’t drastic improvements to MP, I won’t come back. There are other games I’d rather invest my time into that give more gratification for actually playing.
And finally, the second season is so far away, my interest will eventually be lost for good, even if it is the best season ever. I’ll get tied up in another game and forget about Halo. I just don’t find any excuse acceptable for why they chose the route they did. Except maybe that some top level people left. And I think the “Covid” excuse is the biggest cowardly excuse the gaming industry could use. I say this because I’ve worked 5 days a week, around hundreds of people a day, since the start of it, and it hasn’t affected my job or workplace at all.
Anyway, I wouldn’t be surprised if we hear something from the team this week, since they took some time off for the holiday.
I was actually pleasantly surprised by the coating, especially the herb print on the under layer is pretty cool. However I unlocked the nornfang/grey camo skin 2 games later so it’s gone already lol.
Personally I didn’t have too much difficulty unlocking it after adjusting to a defensive playstyle which isn’t very natural in fiesta lol. I like the fact that a challenge actually challenges you to try to alter your play style but I do agree that ultimately it has to be obtainable for everyone.
Hopefully they will go for a double layer approach:
- A challenge based on difficult to achieve gameplay (sprees, specific medals etc)
- A grind challenge (X assists/kills etc)
That way you choose how to challenge yourself while still making content available to all players
Same. I like the willow tea colors, it’s kind of what I’m looking for in a no nonsense armor color
Broooo I feel you. I literally was grinding at 3AM before a DARN final exam that I didn’t study for (still got an A btw) and I yelled the f* bomb so many times so loud in my apartment that I’m surprised they let me go to university in the morning. I went from mild demeanor nice person to raaaaging sheetrock punching maniac (no I didn’t actually punch sheetrock) during this grind and that’s why I haven’t played since.
I think a week long provides plenty of opportunity to complete them as well.
A week is enough time for this dumpster fire booty megatonne of challenges? Really? Well excuse me for having a full-time job and taking 15 credits this semester and having a relationship and friends and working out and eating thanksgiving dinner with my family that I rarely have time for? I think I should be able to play Halo on occasion and have fun, not lose sleep on it like a second job. If I didn’t have a life, or maybe back when I was 14, then maybe I could do something so time-consuming but as it stands now I don’t have time for this garbage.
See I was frustrated too but unlike you I didn’t find it fun at all. I pretty much only play Halo for SWAT. This makes players like me completely alienated. We have no reason to play Halo Infinite, and we are excluded from the progression system because it will always be gametype centered, thus preventing us from playing what we want to play. We’ve been cast aside.
So you work two jobs? Honestly, playing Halo Infinite makes me want to go back to work to blow off steam.
Thank you for articulating the ridiculous amount of time this takes and how it is 100% RNG based nonsense. Players like us, ones with busy lives, are simply not included in 343’s vision for Halo.
Taken so out of context, as if I am not as busy as you. I value my time as well and I play maybe an hour of games every night to decompress. Maybe more on the weekend. I stated that I believe it is enough time, but I cannot attest to everyone else’s time.
The difficulty to obtain also appeals to the reward. I also stated in my previous comment that I believe a week long is fine as long as they are not bugged and by utilizing challenge swaps.
343 really should have just made halo infinite like the MCC the game definitely would have benefited from being similar to the MCC especially with the progression system that MCC has.
Also my post that you replied to included this:
However I do believe that the Tenrai event rewards are lacking and the progression of the battle pass is horrible.
So I already understand the frustration with progression.
Apologies, not trying to be rude to you, my head is just exploding with frustration and it comes through in my typing.
