I was pretty pumped too unlock the weekly skin on Saturday night. I’m running the Mark V core though so the coating is uselesssssss
Doing the same thing OP! Forza horizon 5 rewards me every damn second I play it, and I’ll get my halo fix from the MCC
Never thought it would be so easy to walk away from a game I was so excited for. I already have a job, I dont want another.
to each their own, I’m glad it’s kinda unique and not just a shade of beige, I haven’t seen anything like it thus far
I just told you. Because without the progression or challenges in this game it’s pretty bare Bones. There’s no custom game browser, custom games are currently broken, there’s no forge, campaign there won’t be any online coop, there’s only like 4 game modes, there’s only a couple maps. This game is launching with almost no actual in game content and game modes. The challenges and battle pass it’s what’s going to keep people coming back.
Now if the game launched with double the maps and had a playlist selection as good as the MCC then sure your argument would work, but as is it doesn’t. I don’t need progression or unlocks to enjoy a game, but they need to be there if there’s very little content if I’m going to keep coming back. I’m already tired of playing the same game modes on the same 2-3 maps over and over again and I’m not the only one who feels that way.
I actually enjoy that the challenges are difficult so that those who earn it have a sense of reward and have something others may have not been able to obtain. I think a week long provides plenty of opportunity to complete them as well. As long as they aren’t bugged…. And also utilizing challenge swaps if needed. A good idea may be the weekly challenges being the same for everyone for fairness though.
However I do believe that the Tenrai event rewards are lacking and the progression of the battle pass is horrible.
Also the early options of customization are severely lacking. They could start with universal armor coatings rather than restricting them to separate armor cores.
I saved myself the headache. I mean why beat my head against the wall for a skin I’ll probably never use?
After hard work, I come home, I play Halo Infinite.
I thought the same after getting the Willow Tea coating, but after playing a random game last night and getting 2 killing sprees while having fun I realized I was the problem.
I’m one challenge away. After spending all day yesterday trying to get my third and final Wasp kill I gave up this morning and swapped it because there’s just no way to influence 1) Getting a map that spawns Wasps 2) The enemy getting it and not a teammate 3) Getting the kill myself instead of an assist or other tragic near misses. So I swap. Win 3 Total Control matches. Total Control is BTB only where I have the least agency over win/loss due to the 12 person teams so I should win about 50% of the time. It has a 1/4 chance of even being the game type selected. BTB has a time out of 15 minutes, but can cut short if a team stomps. So assuming I land on the mean instead of getting super lucky or unlucky, that means I need to play 24 BTB matches by tomorrow morning which could take as long as 5 hours and has every chance of just not happening by tomorrow morning at all even if I sank 10 hours into it. For a coating. The disappointment of missing these challenges due to sheer randomness is ruining what would otherwise be the best Halo experience I’ve ever had. I genuinely don’t understand why so many challenges have so little agency involved in accomplishing them in the first place. It makes me feel powerless. In a Halo game. It’s absurd
i’l see you there… at least MCC HAS swat, and other fun gamemodes. like FFA, and BTB Heavies. oh and fun weekly challenges to do, that don’t feel like a chore. oh and worthwhile rewards, and armor, and colors in which the player can choose freely. and past halo games getting more customization. all for the low low price of 60. ain’t that nice :3
also the willow tea armor sucks… like, it’s not worth the annoying grind for a color set
Maybe I’m better than I give myself credit for being. None of of these challenges were difficult to me.
It was way too painful. I will not be grinding this out again unless I see myself actually using the item. I just didnt have any armor coatings and this was my first coating that was not a flat color.
If you are going to have us complete x-amount of games, dont lock it behind other challenges.
I shouldnt have to groom the enemy team by feeding them kills so that I can finish the challenge requiring i stop 5 killing sprees.
Go play another game then. Take a break. Its a GAAS so it will be updated over time. It wasn’t meant to be launched with everything and then be finished developing.
I don’t get why everyone is griefing over the 7 game modes. There’s plenty. They need to update to let you pick the mode you want but otherwise there’s a lot to do here.
Most of the challenges aren’t difficult, they’re just tedious. Except for ‘Get 15 kills with the gungoose’, that challenge can get the duck out of here.
Yeah have to agree with that, I actually used my challenge skip on that out of principle.
Trying not to use any skips though, but I will absolutely not do something that requires me to let the enemy team have an advantage.
probably because PAST HALO GAMES HAD MORE MODES IN LESS TIME.
Halo Reach had more modes at launch. in 3 years or less time, with probably less of the team working on it because of ODST. Reach had more content, more reason to keep playing, more gamemodes AT LAUNCH
‘oh it’s a beta’ unless crunch time is gunna happen, i DOUBT a whole lot will change in a weak time. also infinite had 6 YEARS, double the time the past games took, and is less fun. heck, i found Halo 5 more preferable over infinite.
Controversial opinion but Halo Reach was a bad game at launch. It lacked anything for the competitive community. An error Halo 4 also made, however at least Reach corrected it. Halo 5 then steered too hard towards competitive.
Reach also had poor maps. Half the maps inserted into the game were grey forged maps because most the gametypes did not play well on the default maps.
They’ve found an awesome balance of both with Infinite.
I still don’t have it. Played over 30 Tenrai event games since getting the challenge. They “claim” they didn’t want this to be a chore/job just like they claimed all the other crap they lied about. This is just Master Chief Collection 2.0. Gonna take them 4 years to figure out they should have listened to their player base since they fixed MCC and not tried to reinvent the wheel (while creating a triangle).
eh, to each their own i suppose
