Agreed.
I do enjoy playing co-op from time to time.
But when it comes to experiencing something like a videogame or movie, etc, for the first time, I like to do so with limited distractions.
Unfortunately my friends have already said they donāt plan to wait and potentially be spoiled, 3 months is a long time to go dark after a game has already released. That said, Iām really disappointed I canāt play this game blind with my friends. The open nature of the game creates so much potential for you and your friends to explore a strange new world together in so many interesting ways. But once youāve experience it, youāve experienced it. And youāll never be able to okay it for the first time again.
So itās a huge shame, but I wonāt be waiting as Iād want my team to be just as green as me going into it.
Was going to play the game at launch with a friend that I used to play Halo with for over a decade. The first time we were going to play Halo together since I moved across the Atlantic half a year ago.
Well, thatās not going to happen.
Sure, I could play the game alone and just do the coop-thing later. But Iām not going to. Not because Iām bitter that 343 once again lied through their teeth (āInfinite will have splitscreen coop at launchā) or that they screwed over our plans. Just for the simple reason that I never have and never will support incomplete releases. 343 will may get their money once the game is in the state it was supposed to launch in.
Oh, and I will also not go out of my way to avoid spoilers. If I get spoiled in the time it takes 343 to finish the game, I have no reason to buy the campaign, so itās them who will lose out, not me. Hopefully if enough players do that, they learn to better manage their releases next time (since they werenāt able to do so after six entire years).
I will not wait. I will play it alone.
Hell no Iāve been waiting years and it looks like this one might even be good too. I always play games solo once anyway just to absorb everything at my own pace and have my own thoughts.
I always play solo first regardless and then play coop for āfunā (aka screw around) after wards so the delay actually works perfectly for me
Some of my favorite game experiences are Co-Op in Halo. The sense of exploring something new together with friends, the sense of shared accomplishment at solving a problem or overtaking a particularly hard boss and doing it together is for me - some of the most rewarding form of gaming.
Iām going to try to coordinate with my crew that we do this together - hopefully we can all wait.
Immensely disappointing not to have this at launch and while I appreciate the devs arenāt launching a faulty / actively bad co-op and taking the time to do it rightā¦I really thought after the long, long wait for Halo that Iād be on with my friends this weekend, not well in to 2022.
And its really unfortunate to have to make this choice.
The only thing I think that would have solved this was either
a) Launch with a completed Co-Op (clearly not happening)
b) Release a Co-Op campaign next year that is not a Co-Op version of the current campaign (which apparently was never designed for Co-Op anyways). Then at least fans / customers could enjoy Halo solo this holiday season and play a new Co-Op campaign as part of Season 2.
Iām so glad itās free on Game Pass. Iām not going to pay for a Halo without co-op. Iām still playing the campaign solo, but my heart is broken that I canāt get in some jolly cooperation with my bestie. Weāve prefer to play Legendary co-op together first before anything else.
