Will YOU USE Waypoint to view CSR's ??

I posted a message that the decision to make CSR ( Competitive Skill Rank )only visible in waypoint ( coming in April ) would disappoint a lot of gamers… I mentioned it to a few gamers playing Halo 4 during matchmaking… MANY of them didn’t even know about it… Comments made were mostly “I WONT LOG INTO WAYPOINT” and “Why the h@ll would you put in in another program outside the game”

I tried to view the stats of non friends using the xbox app as well the my smartphone app which is pretty much the same on an iPhone…

Someone sent me a link on the www version of waypoint (on personal computer) to prove to me I could see their stats although I was not their friend… I could see the stats using the hyperlink they sent… but in the Xbox app and smartphone app I see no way to type in the gamertags of non friends to view those stats. And honestly I don’t see a place on the www waypoint either that is obviously and easily accessible to search for a gamertag… Viewing other friends is easy, but no one else…

Anyone using waypoint will obviously use the smartphone if they are trying to play the game a view non friends they have recently played with…

My question is how many of you have tried this and how many of you will use the waypoint app on your smartphone or xbox ? The smartphone would be the only choice while playing…

isent it possible that there going to update waypoint and the game with the CSR stuff at the same time? Could be the reason why it was delayed even further.

Waypoint on the Xbox would be OK but in order to use it you have to basically leave the game which is not convenient when you just want to quickly take a glance.

Want to see someone else’s rank?

You need a laptop beside you.

Don’t care about it because of how stupid we made it, and therefore won’t try to get better?

Don’t worry, we cater to noobs more than anyone else right now, and there’ll only be 1 place people might scream and shout about their own skills and even that is limited.

-How I feel 343 is treating this game

Probably not. I rarely play Halo 4 anymore.

Or, you know, just use that convenient new thing called smartglass, and watch your rank progressivley go up or down right there on your phone. It’s not that hard if you actually care about your rank. Otherwise, it’s just for bragging rights.

I will check for my CSR just because I want to know where I stand, and if I am getting better. I am disappointed that 343 won’t be putting it in the game itself. I really feel it would bring back a lot of players especially with the new competitive playlist they have planned.

The only reason I can see as to why 343 doesn’t want to put it in the game itself is because of boosters. I say to 343 that Boosters are going to do it no matter what you do. In fact I have a game of CTF posted on my youtube channel “TheCrazedSpartan” where the other team clearly was going to win but rather than cap the last flag they decided to continue rack up the kills to boost their K/D’s. By the end I was the only one stubborn enough to not quit (because I hate quitters even if we clearly have no chance to win.) even though it did hell to my K/D.

Bottom line is that they are going to boost anyways so why not put it into the game.

Thank YOU for some down to earth common sense !
About everyone on matchmaking that is asked or knows about this thinks its BS and may of them say its a waste… Unfortunately so many of those voices are never heard… they love the game but don’t do the forums…

The ONLY REASONABLE way for a Halo 4 player to do this would be to have the app on their smartphone and type it in as they play between games while in the waiting for a game lobby…

Man, I agree whole heartedly… This company is screwing up. Having the CSR in game would bring back a lot of fans… it would also generate more revenue. There are MILLIONS of more Xbox’s on the planet then when Halo 3 was being sold - and yet Halo 3 is still king by far in the numbers… I know people who have left Halo for COD and never come back. In fact - of course- many of them make fun of Halo now. HALO 3 sold about 12 million ( when there were millions less Xbox 360 consoles on the planet back 5+ years ago )… now there are millions more consoles and Halo 4 has sold 7 million so far - not bad… but sales are slowing FAST… I doubt it’ll hit 10 million… if it gets close it’ll barely tie REACH

As far as boosters… they’ve removed ways to boost… team killing is much harder. In the old days a booster would quit ( a guy on your team that was boosting for the other team would quit so you’d be outnumbered )… now if its early in the game they add another player…

The ONLINE population of Halo 4 seems lower then just a month ago… and a month ago it was much lower then a month before… If 343 screws this up some heads may roll… but not before the game suffers

Many of us that played Halo 2 respected those who had higher ranks - in fact we were scared of some of them because in Halo 2 it was harder to rank up. But we weren’t scared in a bad way… we wanted to be better… Therefore we logged in more… it kept the online population up… Even more so in Halo 3… People logged on to make their visible rank better… IT WAS A CHALLENGE… People like that !

By hiding it… there is less incentive the log in… or try… there is less incentive for team play… just look now… Everyone could care less… and the online population is slowly dwindling

I’ll use it as much as I use HTR now…also, who DOESN’T have a computer, tablet or smartphone handy while they play video games? What else do you do during loading screens?? O_o

nah, i heard the competetive playlist will have some sort of ranking so it’s good.

I won’t check my opponent’s CSR while I’m playing. That is just too tedious. I will keep track of my own CSR though.

I watch loading screens during loading screens because apparently I am the only gamer on the face of the planet that does not have ADD.

Except, you know, smartglass doesn’t work with virtually anything but Windows 8 phones. Sure the app is there, but all it does is allow you to see your friends list and use the phone as a remote.

> Don’t care about it because of how stupid we made it, and therefore won’t try to get better?

Are you implying that one needs a visible rank as an incentive to get better? Don’t apply that silly notion to everybody please, some of us want to get better regardless of some little icon/number/symbol next to a gamertag.

I don’t personally care if they implement it in game or not, that number doesn’t really tell me anything aside from a vague indication of where I’m at. The during/post-game score screen and my Waypoint Service Record do more than enough to tell me exactly where I’m excelling and where I could use improvement. Though I do miss the heatmaps from the Bungie days. Their stat tracking was a bit more thorough too.

I put the controller down to flex my fingers and rest my hands?

I would! I was excited…but then my Halo Waypoint on Xbox Smartglass stopped working

yes seeing as im gonna be playing the competitive playlist alot anyways might as well do it. no biggie, also im going to be changing my service tag to my current lvl Ex. LVL50

> I would! I was excited…but then my Halo Waypoint on Xbox Smartglass stopped working

Meh, doesn’t matter. When you load up Halo 4 in smart glass it pulls up exactly what the web app does. Just go to waypoint.com on your phone and click stats and it’s the same thing exactly.

See my above post. Doesn’t matter. Smart glass doesn’t do anything special. It just pulls up the waypoint stats web app. Unless it’s different between iOS and Windows 8 but that’s not what I’ve heard.
