Since the population has dropped because of lolreachlol it’d be nice if it went way up again for Halo 4. 
I am sorry but when Halo 4 comes out I’m certain Halo 3 servers will soon be shut down. The reason being that Halo 4 will have the functions from Halo 3 that everyone loves. I’m sure 343i will implement more from Halo 3 into Halo 4 than Halo: Reach into Halo 4. It is far more likely that you will be given a BR rather than a DMR or both. You will probably not have armor abilities in a load-out but rather they be on the map. You will probably have bleed through instead of no bleed through. Therefore I think the Halo 3 population will move to Halo 4 making it unnecessary for Halo 3 servers to stay up.

Why though? Halo 4 will hopefully be closer to halo 2/3 in terms of game play no need for the separate playlist.

it still won’t be Halo: 3
well I don’t think it will be shut down look how long it took for halo 2 to be shut down I think the population will be nearly non existant but I dunno if the servers will be shut down. who knows I’d like for them to be kept up because I still have a nice idea of one day goin and playin my old custom games with all my friends again on halo 3
I don’t think Halo 3 servers will be shut down the only reason Halo 2 servers were was because it was an original xbox game.

Halo 3, and Reach have Tethered Networks involving the Servers. So no, It won’t be shut down.

Why would it? The general Reach player is probably going to get his way, and have the exact same rank system with bloom, AA’s, horrible maps and horrible mechanics since the “major” population now plays Reach, hence making the “core” of Halo’s fanbase Reach fans. <- Yeah it is that nonsensical.
I play 3 from time to time, but mostly play Reach now. When 4 comes out, if it is as good as all the previous games, I will mostly be playing 4, and will play 3 and Reach from time to time.
I’ll be pissed of they shut down H3. H2 being shut down was bad enough.

Yes they might shut it down so im getting all achievments for it now i just need overkill and two for one.

If Halo 4 is anything like Reach, I’ll be playing Halo 4. 
EXPLANATION: I originally stated that I would be playing Reach, because the only reason I played Halo 3 was that Halo 2 had died. However, if Halo 4 is anything like Reach (with vast improvements to Forge and such), and if Reach disintegrates into an empty laggy desert, I’ll be playing Halo 4 anyway… I highly doubt that Halo 4 will be terrible anyway.
Yup… i doubt they would be shut down. I thought that was one of the reasons of using p2p networking. Way cheaper to maintain one server that only matches people up then using multiple dedicated servers.

oh god I hope this is true. Halo 4 will be the only real Halo left to play on XBL after H3 is shut down.

Frank O’Connor said Halo 4 will be nothing like Reach, THAT alone already makes it better than Reach and the game’s not even out yet!
Soon as Halo 4 comes out I’m forgetting Reach ever happened, most likely only going to halo Reach for custom games but for me will always come back to Halo 3 because it was epic.
