Will you judge me if I go negative?

So this one match I decided I would play more objectively than going for kills since it was a strongholds match. I managed to go 4-9 before my internet disconnected me. I got messages from two people that were on my team telling me I was a trash player because I had a bad K/D and that I should go kill myself. I already reported and blocked them but it made me wonder if people are really this judgmental about K/D in matches, even though it was an objective match? I would say I’m not really a good player (depends on how you see my stats) but everyone has good and bad matches.

EDIT: Didn’t know this thread would reach the front page of the forums lol. But anyways, it’s nice to see not everyone would treat another person lower than they are because we are all people and we make mistakes. I’d just like to address it’s not bad to be competitive (I can get really competitive myself) but I always have to remind myself in the end it’s just a game, so you shouldn’t take it to heart (unless you really want to, I don’t control your life.) Thanks everybody for the responses.

Judgmental? Yeah, especially if you are not good. I can see out of 1 eye so I lost depth perception. My games are mostly ave to bad. I try, but you should see my hate mail.

I was surprised, I played a couple MM games back-to-back with the same people earlier… went negative, I think both games, but was close to 1 K/D both times, and assisted well.

Both pretty close matches, and I got invited to play a 3rd game… I think it just all depends on whether or not your teammates see you as a good player. I mean, you can’t just completely “go-off” every match lol.

You are playing a strongholds match, if your caps and resets are retatively high, and or your assists I wont complain. However, if everything is low in an objective mode I might have a problem, not going to message you in rage or something cause Im no child but I would be like “son of a …” lol

Absolutely not. People should never judge others based on stats. Stats don’t even matter anyway, what matters is that you have fun.

I only judge your KD if it sucks and:

  • The game is Slayer or something where killing (and not dying) is the main way to win - Most of the rest of the team did much better KD-wise - You’re also lacking with assists - We would have won comfortably if not for your terrible KDIf any of those four bullets aren’t true for you, then I’ll probably chalk it up to “you win some, you lose some.” If all four are true, then I won’t send hate mail or anything, but ball don’t lie. And I’ve stunk it up MANY times myself!

the worst i will say is, how did you go 3-20 o.o. other then that man, nah. who cares? we aren’t getting paid, therefor. your performance doesn’t matter nearly enough to warren me to “judge” you.

You just had jerk teammates who clearly don’t understand K/D doesn’t matter solely in terms of your skill. As you said, you were playing Strongholds where the OBJ is more important. K/D has its own importance but it isn’t the single most important quality of someone’s skill. Either way, it is just some jerk on your team thinking it was YOUR fault the team lost, when it was a team effort in the loss or win. I’m a pretty decent player myself but even I have my bad games.

I always go negative in objective matches it seems, mainly because I’m grinding the last of my commendations. Guarding the flag for defender medals and trying to get capture sprees in strongholds.

Personally, if you’re contributing to the objective, it doesn’t bother me. But if you’re negative with no captures, flag returns, carrier kills or anything… what are you even doing?

I prefer Warzone way more than Arena, it’s more fun to me.

However, in Arena in Strongholds or Capture the Flag I often play recklessly - going for the flag or capturing the stronghold, dying way more often… leading me in either having most of the strongholds captured or with flags captured, but way more deaths than kills…

Which results me having K/D - 0,9 in Arena, and 1,2 in Warzone.

PS. Also, try to play in Europe - no point in Focused search, often going for Balanced or mostly Expanded because it finds no matches… resulting in the very same matches that I had since the start - lag, latency and all that crap. It’s not cool if you waste whole magazine shooting the guy and hitting, and he isn’t dead, yet he kills you with 2-3 shots instead of 5… getting shot through the walls, etc.

I haven’t gotten hate messages about poor performance since Halo 3. I guess I should consider myself lucky, because I’m in no way an all star player.

Sorry to hear you;re getting messages like that OP, always find it disheartening to read about people getting such hate over a video game. Not the best player myself, but even if I was good I’m not going to hate on you for being bad - whether it’s slayer or objective. Everyone starts somewhere, I’m sure even the people that send you messages weren’t all that great when they started out. Have to learn somewhere.

I wouldn’t judge you over video game stats. People who do that are pathetic.

There are some real dickheads it there man. Just find a chill company of people to play with and you won’t gave worry about them as much.

I get frustrated with my teammates sometimes but I’ve never sent hate mail (not even when I had a teammate go -1 and 21).

The only stat I check is Win/Loss ratio. And only if I hear anyone brag about K/D, I don’t care how good it is, if I see they’ve consistently lost more games than they’ve won, they’re useless. They’re not a team player and they’re just in it for themselves padding some pointless number. And it’s no coincidence that a lot of times you’ll notice with people that the higher the K/D, the lower the W/L.

If you’re worried about K/D, you’re playing the wrong game. I care about your’s as much as you care about mine. And I don’t even know what mine is. Halo is about winning. And while sometimes that does require more kills than deaths, sometimes it requires you to die a lot (i.e., taking a stronghold, holding a hill, capturing a flag, etc.). Sometimes I wish it was still like Combat Evolved where I could drive myself in the Warthog while holding the flag because my entire team is camping around the map terrified of harming their precious pointless K/D instead of playing the objective, so we lose.

You’re not rewarded for your K/D. You get no achievements, accommodations, REQs, nothing. No one wants to hear you brag about your K/D. K/D is as important as your shot accuracy. Imagine if everyone started playing in a manner to obtain the highest percentage of shot accuracy? It’d be obnoxious.

K/D obsession is stupid and it doesn’t matter. At all.

That said, I’d never send a rude message to someone … for any reason. And certainly not for being a mediocre player … I’m not that good, so of course not for that. lol

Really depends. If you hang a neg 8 in a slayer, yea I won’t be happy. But if youre doing objective and dealing decent damage then I really don’t care what your k/d is. But just doing objective without at least shooting back and trying to live/assist is worse than ignoring obj for kills.

If this was in a ranked game, then they were probably angry that you quit and your bad K/D just gave them fuel to talk crap.

No, I won’t judge you over your KD…because it’s a video game.

I’ve just started playing and my K/D is a poor 0.45 on Warzone and I’ve not had any negaive comments (so far).
And if I did just ignor them its not real life its a game and if they cant see that, well thats their problem.

If its objective based and you played that way, good on you, you understand teh different styles of game.

Nah. I’ll only judge you if you sit there and do nothing.
