I see a lot of people in this thread talking about balancing… That’s well and fine. But until net-code e.g., d-sync issues improve, weapon balancing at this time is like throwing a brick into the Grand Canyon. It would have limited effect on the overall game play loop.
Oh hell ya I would like to have those weapons! They worked well in previous Halo Games!
Peace!

Definitely agree, Halo 5’s mass arsenal in warzone was the least of everyones complaint. Nevermind the fact not a cimplaint in every Halo before that. There shouldnt be a problem here with just their basic variants.
In past Halo games, there were some good weapons, some of my go-to weapons, they are now gone. 343’s talk about weapon balancing and each weapon filling a specific spot and eliminating duplicate weapon types, I am sorry, but I’m calling it for what it is, just lazy, it’s just cutting content.
343 has cut a lot of content, and weapons being eliminated are just a part of those cuts. Weapons that even though on the surface did the same thing such as the DMR and the Covenant Carbine, those weapons did feel different. 343 knows this, but they don’t care, just cut as much as possible, make up some technical reason for why we are doing what we are doing shove it out the door, and sell it.
Weapon balancing is always ongoing and not that difficult, even so, it’s never going to be perfect, come on look at the AR in this game the range is insane for a CQC weapon, I’m getting hit from the other side of the map with a spray weapon, THAT’S called balancing?
Some good older weapons that are still in the game that did fill an important niche such as the plasma pistol are now close to useless in multiplayer and not that much use in the campaign, so again, where did the balancing go?
People have always had their favorite weapons, but for the first time ever I find most of the weapons to be of no interest. 343 has not only cut content from the game but also cut Fun.
Infinite actually has the 2nd highest number of weapons in Halo next to Halo 3. The only game in the series to beat Infinite is Halo 5, and that is only because Halo 5 had a crap ton of just random variants and modifications to the existing weapon pool.
There are a few weapons Infinite could afford to see come back - Classic Shotgun, SMG, Grenade Launcher, Spiker, Plasma Launcher for instance - but Infinite actually has a good selection of weapons.
I don’t believe the balancing strategy 343 has adopted and enforced for Infinite is at all great to begin with, given they want to balance around “effective range” instead of skill-based balancing. This decision leads to fallacies such as the Sniper having bloom during hip-fire but not at all when zoomed in. It’s ridiculous. The Sniper is already a hard weapon to use, that’s its balancing. It doesn’t need further handicapping by an arbitrary decision to make it useful primarily as a “long range weapon.” Until they adopt a skill-based or better balancing strategy, adding new weapons will just further exemplify the sandbox’s current failures.
Get rid of the pulse carbine. Give me a covenant carbine and plasma rifle.
#makeplasmagreatagain
Issue is they have insymmetrical spawns and no one wants to use half the weapons so one team always spawns with the weapon they want and the other just runs right past the less loved one.
Theyve already done this with the current weapons, commando is just the DMR but fully auto with recoil and bloom, so no one uses it.
Burst carbine is their attempt at reinventing the wheel for the Storm Rifle/Plasma Rifle and Carbine al in one. No one uses it.
I would rather have DMR vs BR fights than AR vs BR fights all the time.
Because no one picks up the Commando, which can theoretically do everything the BR can do so theyre not even good at following their own design philosophy.
Railgun is different enough, it could fit without falling into the same niche imo.
Focus rifle is garbage, no one should want it back.
Grenade launchers in halo have always been unique, minus the brute shots and concussion rifles acting nearly the same.
Fuel rod I can live without, the Forerunner grenade launcher is the reinvention of it and the plasma caster.
Beam rifle we don’t need, even if i like it more than the S7 Sniper rifle.
Well then I’m sure you’ll agree that we need some old weapons back as I’ve already pointed out how no one uses the new weapons.
100%, I only drop sidekick for BR, or power weapons because the AR takes little effort to wipe up a kill with at medium to close range. We are going to need a rework of these obviously CoD balance inspired weapons.
Yeah why would I plan on using a weapon that gives me the potential of getting my teeth kicked in by a player significantly worse than me because they’re using something 500x easier?
Makes it difficult enough, now take into consideration they probably have an AR or BR with tons of AA and Magnetism. You aren’t gonna land that shot unless you’re in the pro league.
You can’t scope in, you’ll just get descoped.
Plasma pistol needs a buff too if they plan to put that on the same spots where the mangler is.
Most of the weapons are fine, even ones with limited niche ( plasma pistol ). Just because people don’t bother to learn how to use weapons properly doesn’t make them bad lol.
Having a more skill based weapon that achieves the exact same thing as a less skilled weapon puts you at a disadvantage with said more skill based weapon, simply because it requires more effort to get the same result.
I never needed to sit in aim training to learn how to use a BR, people need to practice considerably more to do even nearly as well with the commando since it has bloom and more recoil.
Or, they will just never pick it up, making it a useless addition to the sandbox, since another gun does the exact same thing and outclasses them.
TL;DR, if there’s another gun like it they dont have to learn how to use, YES, yes it indeed, does.
This guy understands. You wouldnt take a rocket launcher into a hallway. But youd take a bullpup. You wouldn’t bring an energy sword to sniper alley. Halo had a fun sandbox and then had DEDICATED MAPS for ranked and non casual style lobbies.
Edit: spelling
Bring on all the chaos for fun
Yes. Because I don’t really care too much about it and limiting options limits the game.
Somebody will have mentioned it, but you have the problem that the Assault Rifle is better than most of the guns. So not much point having unique gun roles if they’re terrible and awkward to use.
For me it’s a couple of things:
- Extra weapons add to the story:
For example the Endless are showing up. Maybe the Skimmers should have their own guns to emphasise the alien nature. Instead of then using UNSC and Banished guns…
Cortanas army has been destroyed. So, shouldn’t there be tons of abandoned Hardlight weapons? Maybe you get a battered Light Rifle. Small detail that would add to story.
Banished should be using Banished guns for all but gimmicks. If you want a Banished with a shotgun or missile launcher they should have that option; not just giving them a Heatwave or missile launcher.
- Variety is good
If they dropped a DMR in the next season that would get peoples attention. They won’t really care that there are similar weapons already. Same with the SMG. It’s good to know that they’re there. Easy crowd pleaser.
- Major lack of anti tank guns
You have the skewer, hydra and that’s it really since ML is too slow projectile. So you’re waiting for these weapons to drop and spawn. Very annoying on a map where two (tanky) Wasps are wiping your team.
Yeah I miss a lot of guns, and find the weapons in Infinite mostly boring and uninspired
Hopefully we will see a lot of the arsenal return with Forge.
I’m OK with what we have at the moment. I think it’s good that they have given the core Infinite sandbox a bit of time to breathe.
But I don’t think the overall library has to be balanced. They just need to take care that any particular map / game mode is balanced. Each weapon needs to have a clear role in for that moment in time.
Except for Super Fiesta. Then there are no rules.
I remember before the game came out, we all thought they were be adding a dozen more arsenal to the game from previous Halo’s, even Halo Wars.
Nobody thought they were going to actually cut so many and little them severely.
If 343i putz in some of the OG Weapons like Fuel Rod and other OG weapons I guarantee ya that I will put them in my Maps When we get Forge and I’ll make sure they kill people!
PEACE!

We were very naïve. I mean, it’s definitely been one of 343’s better launches, but that’s not saying a whole lot. I confess, before the game came out right after the content drought, I was pretty much hanging on there every word. compared to what they promised, Infinite looks kinda lame.
