Will Xbox One Destroy the Halo Population?

I’m really worried about the release of xbox one and how much damaged this will deliver to the population of our classic halo games ? who agrees? Hopefully you will all stay until Halo 5 release.

There is nothing really good to play to keep people on the XB1.

Also, when making threads you should try and produce enough questions and ideas to generate a fair bit of feedback to avoid being labeled spam and getting locked.

Asking “Will release of ‘X’ destroy ‘Y’” isn’t much of a conversation generator. If you have anything more to add to your thread you should just for the sake of conversation.

Overall I don’t see anything hurting the Halo population until Titanfall and the Destiny beta comes.

I wouldn’t say those 2 alone are the only reasons to buy an Xbox One. I haven’t bought any third party games like Assassin’s Creed IV or CoD Ghosts yet because I would rather have it on next gen. Either people are doing that or just trading in their current gen versions for the next gen version to play on the One or PS4.

With exclusives like Forza, Dead Rising, and Project Spark along with One not being backwards compatible it is kind of foolish to say that Halo 4’s(or any current gen game’s) population won’t see a good size hit.

Seriously? Ryse, Forza, Dead Rising, FIFA, hell the X1 has more release games than PS4. Don’t forget the X1 does A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN SIMPLE GAMING.

And to answer the original post, No. Two reasons:

  1. 343i has grown bigger and are listening
  2. Spielberg

Right its not like the Xboxone has launch titles like:

1.- Assasins creed black flag
2.- Battlefield 4
3.- Cod Ghosts
4.- Dead Rising 3
5.- Fifa 14
6.- Forza 6
7.- Killer Instinct
8.- Need for Speed: Rivals
9.- Ryse son of Rome

Yup nothing really good to play on Xbox 1.

And in the next months we will see Titanfall, Destiny beta and several others.

Yes, over time the Xbox One will eat away at the Halo population. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing, since new and better things are coming! And I believe that there will always be a population (however very small) that will remain on the Xbox 360.

People actually think Ryse is gonna be good?

Xbox One’s biggest launch titles are already available (or will be available) on current gen systems.

Maybe some of the launch titles won’t lure the Xbox fans over to the Xbox One, but games like Destiny, Titanfall, The Division, and Halo 5 (or whatever the next Halo game is called) will attract their attention, just to name a few.

I know some of those are coming to the Xbox 360, but I feel like a lot of people are going to be moving to better systems to play those games. There are better, not to mention more, features on next generation systems.

To be fair, the population is already destroyed, it would be hard for it to get worse.

You mean the population that is playing the currently-out Halo games? Sooner or later. If you’re talking about if the Xbox One will destroy any player base for Halo 5 though, that’s very different of course.

The answer to that is, if Halo 5 is good enough, people will come. I guarantee it. Just like what happened with Halo: CE/3. It doesn’t matter how many or what games the One had in the past. If you build it, they will come.

Yes, most of which won’t hurt the population at all, why? Because if you were a heavy BF player, or CoD player, you aren’t playing a lot of Halo anyway.

And as for me, the launch titles are fairly strong but none have a long lasting matchmaking interest for me. I’ve sworn to never buy the same CoD crap, I would probably play BF4, DR3 and Forza, but once again, these are launch titles, and most of the heavy hitters are on both 360/XB1.

I’d rather wait 4 months to get a game that actually interests me like Titanfall and purchase BF4/Forza/Assassin Creed. Heck, by then they might actually offer bundles or something.

Halo 4 and classic halo overall is likely to see a population drop, not just from xbox one but from playstation 4 too. Sony has still to launch in my region.

To believe otherwise is extremely wishful thinking.

Out with the old and in with the new.

Well it’s not going to help the Halo 4 population that’s for sure.

The population is already really low and even worse at late night .

One does not simply destroy what is already destroyed. The population of Halo has been destroyed for quite some time now. I don’t foresee the XB1 making it much worse.

Half of those are on current gen, waste of money. Buying another console is nothing more than a pay wall (unless you didn’t have a 360 or 360 was ready to die).

1 - current gen
2 - current gen - don’t like anyway
3 - current gen - don’t like anyway
4 - kill a bunch of zombies over and over, maybe when it’s $15
5 - current gen
6 - don’t like anyway
7 - fighting game, soul caliber 2 just released on 360, pry the same quality
8 - lol the commercials for this still make me laugh
9 - good game to get when it’s $15-20

Titanfall and destiny are both on current gen and next gen.

I’d rather wait for a decent bundle in the spring or summer next year (or even later).

Opinions are opinions, not facts

I was on last night around the time of the release and didn’t see any drop in the playing population.

Personally I think MS’s greatest mistake was not using Halo 4 as XB1’s release title. They should have taken the time to beta test and create an out of the box fantastic Halo with next gen graphics/dedicated servers, etc. and used it to drive sales of XB1, just like they did w/ Halo CE and … Xbox 1.

It’ll be fine.

A bunch of launch titles for xbox one won’t do a thing. The only one I was interested in was BF4 but I have that on pc since that is way better than playing it on a console.

The new xbox one has nothing Halo related either. For most it’s a dud at this time until a halo game is on it. Even then I might not get Halo 5 if it turns out to be lame like Halo 4 was.

I think the xbox one will make halo 4 crash. As for the whole halo franchise, I think a lot of people will play halo on the ne.

4’s population hasn’t been hurt at all so far. I’m on it right now
