Will we unlock actually armour in winter contingency event?

I just saw a post saying if we play every day from the 21st Dec until 4th of Jan we will unlock free armour peices and armour attachments.

Will we actually get these or is there a progression system or a pay wall we have to climb first. Whats the catch? And is it actual armour not paint jobs and key chains.

One armor piece being ammo bags, the rest are coatings and other things.

that said there is a rumor of a set of 3 cosmetics that you will get for free for just logging in during it or on christmas.
