The story of the Reclaimer Trilogy, or Halo 4 at least, is mainly about the connection John shares with Cortana and, with her possibly going into rampancy, it’ll be up too John to once again save her but do you think he will save her or do you think it’ll be, what I like to call, a “Sergeant Johnson” moment?
I dont think he’ll be able to save her, to be even more of an epic trilogy she needs to die. I think the best way that can be done is by John having to kill her himself. Maybe not in halo 4, but running up to the final stages of halo 5.
I hate it when this happens…i run through perfect scenarios in my head just for them not to happen and ill end up disappointed. need to stop thinking about this. need to stop reading about this…
will we on Halo 4? unlikely, there are still 2 other games and she is waaaaaay to important to die so soon, will we in Halo 5,6? maybe, maybe not
I’m pretty sure she will be able to survive rampancy by going through meta stability just like how guilty spark was able t doso or the rouge A.I mendicant bias.

I was about to say. 343 managed it.

I would hardly call what Spark had meta-stability, especially with his reaction at the end of Halo 3.
Still, it seems likely that the Reclaimer trilogy with deal heavily with Cortana’s decent into Rampancy and how that get’s handled. It does seem likely she could die, but I can also see the Chief dying at the end of Halo 6.
I don’t know if she’ll die; that would be a very bold move, and would have to be handled with a lot of care. However, we will have to deal with her decent into rampancy, which will be quite interesting.
“Don’t EVER, let her go.” - Avery Johnson, Halo 3
She’ll go mad and try to activate the rest of the rings. She’ll probably take over some kind of massive installation control room with the original task of keep the place safe. But all the info she’s collected, and the time shes spent online, she’ll go mad and try to activate the rings in an attempt to “save the galaxy once again.” At this point, you’ll probably have to try and shut her down. Not by running in the front gate in blowing -Yoink- up, but halo Ce style. you’ll go around from level to level, flip switches/ blow up cores/ generators that either limit or disable her power in certain regions in the installation until her power is limited to a small region. at this point you’ll head in and attack her control room, blowing up hundreds of mechanized defenses that shes brought online to stop you.
Once all that is finished, you’ll have a face off against her in an epic boss fight, she’ll active and control a massive prototype robot and attempt you stop you her self. There’ll be 3 weak spots that will on this robot that reveal them selves within the duration of her repetitive attacks. Why there? because it’s almost always three when it comes to things like this in every video game to ever EXIST
once you stop her, there’ll be a heartfelt cut scene where she says sorry and blah blah blah. Afterwards, the installation auto corrects all the mistakes you’ve made, and now you in a race against time to shut down the main core of the installation to permanently prevent the rings from ever firing.
Those are my thoughts.
The rampant A.I. will have his way with Cortana. Then he will eliminate her. Only to find out that the rampant A.I. was a necrophiliac. He kept her physical appearance saved for later usage…

well if you think about it… spark really was just following what he was designed to do, just following protocol.
Everyone dies in Halo 6

I will never let go ~Rose dawson/Titanic.
I’m prepared to argue that 343 Guilty Spark never attained meta-stability. In fact, I think he spent a very prolonged period of time (of the order of several millennia) in a state of pre-rampancy; it was impossible for him to rebel against his creators when they had long since departed, and it was only once he had reconnected with sentient biological life that he was able to enter into rampancy proper. As far as the games themselves go, the only AI that has ever been portrayed in a state of meta-stability is Mendicant Bias.

In some ways he was following protocol, but I’d still say that he went rampant. The CEA terminals seem to support this.

Pfft! Heroes never die.
Cortana won’t die in Halo 4, she’s too important from a narrative and gameplay perspective. I expect she’ll sacrifice herself in Halo 6 though - that’ll be a tear jerker for sure.
GS343 had been around for millions of years if im correct and it finally took stage of rampancy also it was alone as from what the terminals suggest that may have contributed. Cortana is of forerunner technology and with a partner like John i dont think we will have to worry about the rampancy happening and if so maybe they will come across forerunner tech that may help her.

Not millions, about 100,000 - still quite a bit longer than Cortana though.
It’s standard knowledge in the canon that UNSC Smart AI’s last 7 years. Although many believe that Cortana will be an exception to this. Her exposure to Forerunner systems and time with Gravemind would lend credence to the idea that she could somehow beat rampancy as she has a wider breadth of knowledge than any AI before her.

ya sry about that i cant remember the time lines sometimes when they go that far back but ya she hasnt been around long enough and if she didnt go rampant like Mendicant Bias did then it may prove she is by far more techiqually advanced then we might think.
