Will we see ODST Troopers in Halo Infinite?

With Halo Infinite coming out this year, are we going to see ODST Troopers appeared in the upcoming sequel?

It’s very possible given that there are still ODST’s around. Though I believe most probably became Spartan-IV’s and most soldiers probably prefer to become Spartans rather than normal troopers.

I wouldn’t be so sure about that. There’s a bit of a rivalry between ODSTs and Spartans. Throughout the war, the Spartans got all the glory despite the fact that many ODSTs accomplished incredible feats to defend humanity. So I guess while newer recruits that didn’t slog through the Covenant War would like to be Spartans, many ODST vets would balk at the idea of becoming Spartans.

The Spartan-IV program is relatively new, especially compared to the vast history of the ODSTs. So there really aren’t that many Spartans compared to ODSTs to begin with.

I hope they’re in it honestly since they’re my favorite. It’d be cool to see them drop during a campaign mission right in front of you and hop out the pod. Just like how elites did in Reach.

Something to keep in mind is that there is around 50,000 ODSTs operational post-war, and a few hundred specifically aboard Infinity. With less than 1,000 Spartan-IVs, there is no need to fear the ODSTs being phased out. Whether they appear in Infinite is up for debate, what with how little has been shown.

I suppose you have a point, but quite a few ODST’s like Buck and those serving in one squad in particular among the 105th Division are just a few that either forgave and forgot (not literally mind you) or saw another side of the Spartans that allowed them to show respect to their fellow soldier rather than detest them.

While it probably was an over-exaggeration to declare that many of them went on to become Spartan-IV’s, I’d like to think a fair share may have considered it at the very least.

Also, might I say it’s always a pleasure chatting with you!

It’s funny because ODSTs were supposed to be in 5. They had concept art for them and everything. I wouldn’t mind seeing ODSTs again. Operation: Spearbreaker in Halo Wars 2 was the last time we’ve seen them. Halo: Reach is the last time we played along side them unless you count Buck in Halo 5.

Well thank you! I love coming on here, but was on vacation for a week (I tend to avoid technology when on vacation if possible), so I’m having to catch up on all the threads.

And yeah the Spartan/ODST rivalry really hasn’t seen much exposure in the more recent lore. And with 343 making just about everyone into Spartans now, the ODSTs seem to be falling by the wayside. I hope Infinite fixes that…

Meridian Divide Spoiler: Too soon to tell since I just finished the book, but idk how I feel about the protagonists being thrust into what I assume is the precursor stage of the Spartan-IV program…

You are most very welcome! I hope you enjoyed your vacation!

I hope we get to see some more rivalry between them, for sure there’s no way they just made amends. It would add some tension between the two factions and can sometimes be kind of comical to witness. (Like when they get sassy with one another.) Also, it’s part of the lore, so if anything, just purely for consistency’s sake, it would be nice to see it return.

I like seeing ODSTs in game. Wouldn’t mind seeing them.

there’s really only been about 500 S-IVs by the time of halo 5

I like ODSTs and I would like to see them again in Halo Infinite.
Always liked how they enter the battle, especially when their pods fall on Covenant vehicules.
