Will We See Didact's Return?

Since Didact was defeated and “composed” during the events of Halo: Escalation, it’s safe to say he still has potential to return. We know that Prometheans are housed in a wellspring of AI matrices on Installation 03. It is safe to say the Didact’s AI matrix was picked up or placed into this wellspring. We know that the Warden Eternal is also an AI with Promethean features.
This leaves me to wonder if we’ll see Didact come back as some form of AI with his own AI body like Warden Eternals, or if he will be just left to be forgotten where he lay dormant in the Composer’s Abyss, along with the rest of the digitized victims of the Composer. If I had to guess his return, I’d say he is an asset to Cortana, or even Blue Team and Osiris in stopping her reign of power. I think though, if Didact was part of Cortana’s plan to be a part of the created, he could overthrow her and gain access to all Forerunner technology again, or aid her indefinitely believing in her ways of policing the galaxy with the Mantle.

What ideas do you guys have about the possibility that he could still return in the series?

im not sure considering there was hardly any mention of him during halo 5’s campaign so im not sure but it is possible but if he were to return he may not agree with Cortana’s plan so he may side with blue team in spite of her but it depends on if there is any plan for him to return

I’d like to see him back. So much potential just wasted haha.

Yes. In March of 2558 a Catalog unit intercepted a request to take control of the Forerunner Ecumene from an entity with the Didact’s sigil.

It’s possible, but many like myself see this ‘entity’ possibly being Jul’ Mdama attempting to forge the Didact’s signal. I do hope to see the Ur-Didact return as an aid hopefully.

It would be intersting to have him as an aid, but it would be very much like 343 Guilty Spark.

We’re more likely to have the Iso-Didact show up than the Ur-Didact.

You got a link to this?

Otherwise, as much as I hate to say it, I honestly don’t think we’ll be seeing the Didact return in any major way. Like so many other things that ‘Halo 4’ set up, he appears to have been dropped from the story entirely and “shelved” in such a convenient way that he could be used for a side-story, or just can be forgotten entirely. If he was going to make a comeback ‘Halo 5’ was it - and that window has since come and gone with hardly a peep from/about him.

The Didact’s aim was to stop Humanity claiming the mantle, right? Surely if humans aren’t worthy, then nor are their Created? Perhaps the Didact could return and forge a grudging alliance with humanity to stop the Created taking over the Galaxy.

I could see him helping us destroy Cortana, only for him to turn around and try to destroy Humanity.

I see him returning only to backstab Humanity possibly. However, it’s possible that him actually fighting alongside Humanity might change his views on our species. Similar to how the Sangheili saw Humanity until they joined forces during the Great Schism. If this didn’t happen, his mind may corrupt as an AI now and he may defect to Cortana. Technically the Didact was insane though since he was tortured by the Gravemind and spend 100,000 in silence that was originally meant to be spent in the Domain which was damaged, rendering that impossible.
There’s too many possibilities and though he didn’t return to Halo 5, I don’t think he won’t be returning. He could still make a comeback in future games, since he wasn’t directly a major antagonist after Halo 4.
