Will we see Chief's face by the end?

By the end of the game, do you think that there is a possible chance that Master Chief’s face will finally revealed? There’s a lot of hope in me, but I also believe there’s not a good chance this will happen. If you had to guess, do you think that Chief’s face will be revealed by the end of this game?

I’m gonna say no, I remember them saying (back when Bungie made it) that they wanted the player to imagine their own face in the helmet, and having an actual face would ruin that.

Yes, when the light leaves his eyes and Locke’s shadow is cast over his broken body.

Lets hope not.

Something I notice that 343 is doing is showing that he’s his own character with a distinct personality. I want them to keep moving forward with that, and not just say that the player is the character. However, I think it would would be really hard to finally reveal his face without having a portion of the fans disappointed.

I hope not… One of my favorite things about Chief (idk y) is that he ‘doesn’t have a face’

Partially. I’d like to see more of his face – perhaps at a different angle this time. But I don’t think they should fully unmask him until the end of the Reclaimer Saga. At which point, Chief will have developed further and reclaimed some of his humanity. It would be kind of symbolic to see his adult face at that point. For even Darth Vader was unmasked in the original films, but only after he became human again.

I disagree with those saying he should never be unmasked. We’ve already seen his face as a child and teen, and we have a good description of his appearance. It’s not a complete mystery. And besides, Chief is finally becoming an independent character in the games, despite Bungie insisting that you are him and that he had not personality, motivation or goals of his own. That wasn’t how he was portrayed in the EU at all and I’m so glad 343 aren’t continuing with that trend.

I guess it depends. Will we see Fred, Kelly, and Linda’s faces? If so, then they should show John’s face as well. I am perfectly ok with seeing his entire face, it’s about time.

I completely agree with this statement. As the story progresses, whether it be through things like Halo: Escalation, the books, #HuntTheTruth, and of course, the video games done by 343, we have seen the Masterchief’s personality slowly becoming more of a reality. The fact that he question’s his purpose as a soldier, and a human, at the ending of Halo 4 already shows that 343 really wants the chief to be a character we can not only relate to, but believe to be just as human as we are, and not just some faceless, soulless soldier like Bungie was originally portraying him as.

All in all, would I like to see his face? Absolutely, but now’s not the right time. I feel that perhaps, in Halo 6, Chief will have become more human than he ever has been, and when that happens, most likely at the end of the game, we should see a face reveal before he finishes the climatic ending of that game This would complete his circle of becoming a human being once more, by showing the fact that he IS a human like us, and no longer a man behind a helmet, per say.

Now of course, if Halo 6 wouldn’t be the last game where chief is the main character of the story, then perhaps wait a little longer. They DID say that this was now a Saga, rather than a trilogy. If that means more games with Chief as the main guy, I’m on board, but perhaps, Halo 6 would be the game where Chief, so to say, “passes the torch,” to Locke and being the main guy in Halo. I don’t know, just my 2 cents on the topic haha.

We will never see his face because if we do we’ll see how ugly he is

I really hope not.

Maybe the back of his head.

I really don’t think we will. In fact, I believe that we may never see his face entirely. I believe that the small bit they showed in H4 was just to reinforce the fact that Chief is in fact human. That eye-shot was just the final piece in establishing the theme of the Reclaimer Saga. I doubt we’ll see any more than we saw in H4. Even in H6 I doubt we’ll see his face.

I don’t think we’ll need to see his face. It would be cool but I don’t know if it’s necessary and I won’t be bothered if we do or do not see his face.

I hope we won’t see his whole face by the end of Halo 5. I wouldn’t mind if it was partially revealed, but I don’t want his full face revealed until the end of the Reclaimer Saga.

I really don’t want to see chief face.

Though I am thoroughly enjoying 343 finally bringing Chief’s personality we saw in the books out, I will never want to see his face. Chief’s face being a mystery has always been not only an integral part of the character himself, but also his mythos. The most I can ever accept is what they’ve already done with Halo 4’s legendary ending or Bungie’s holiday banner on their site a few years ago where we only see his eyes/back of his head.

That ended when they gave chief emotions

I hope they finally show is face.

How can you not feel bored with that idea?

I hope no, I don’t want them to show anything of his face again, that was maybe the biggest mistake in Halo 4
