Think about it! If you watch the very last cutscene where Noble six’s helmet rests, the date on the corner of the screen is just a couple years after Halo 5’s timeline. And that ship in the background? Could be Infinity unless the lore begs to differ. But seriously it could go like this. The Infinity has made an emergency slipspace jump to a set of random coordinates (like how Cortana did with the Piller of Autum back in CE) and they just so happen to find themselves on planet Reach. The planet has seemingly been restored from it’s unearthed and glassed condition. Lasky decides that it’s their only option for a hiding place for the time being. The crew sets down on Reach and Spartan Fireteams are deployed for reconnaissance. During patrol, Chief and his team finds a forerunner artifact, a cartographer and with that, the location of a potential aid is found (perhaps Mendicate Bias?).
Sorry for the long paragraph, but thanks for reading! I’m not an expert on Halo’s story and plot, but I am a die hard fan. Just the thought that Reach’s last cutscene takes place around the time of Halo 5’s timeline is just exciting. Please leave constructive comments for this post!
Highly doubt it but it would be cool if it happened. From the looks of things the game will take place almost entirely on halo
I doubt it. Reterraforming for Reach began in 2553, but we have no idea how much progress has been done. Given that Infinite is theorized to take place around 2560, it’s entirely possible that Reach is not yet at a state where it would make for a safe haven. Reach’s epilogue takes place in 2589, which is several years after Halo 5.
I’m in the camp of probably not on this one. I don’t see the reason from the narrative perspective or the interest from the marketing perspective. While some of us (myself squarely included) have very fond memories of Reach, I think the overall fanbase would be much happier to make their way onto another Halo ring after so long.
Besides, even if Infinite’s campaign did take us back to Reach, as far as the timing goes it’s very unlikely that it’d be a place worth spending much time at all. In the epilogue for Reach whole decades have passed and it appears that life is just starting to make its way back onto the planet. Not that the cutscene in question is evidence of the entire planet being in such bad shape, but I think it’s a reasonable assumption.
Probably a 0.00001% of that happening. Would be cool though…

Ahh very true. I do cherish the moments I had back in CE
That wouldn’t make any sense but it would be cool
Well Reach is gone, so there’s that.
If both Hiroshima and Nagasaki are still bathed in radiation after over 70 years, 70% of a planet certainly wouldn’t in 8 years.
Mendicant Bias sacrificed itself to ensure Master Chief’s survival when he was escaping Installation 04B’s destruction. He actually spoke directly to him in the hidden terminal in the last mission.
Reach had a Forerunner artifact, a ship I believe. It’s the big thing you see in the last area in The Package in Halo Reach.

So what you’re saying is the forerunner artifact was Bias? Or what?

No. Bias is essentially how you see it in Halo Mythos or Legends, as a construct with 3 eyes. While it did split itself and it’s core remains in Zeta Halo, the “shard” containing Mendicant itself was destroyed along with Installation 04B, the ring we destroy in the end of Halo 3.
The artifact on Reach was (I believe) a ship, like the Dreadnought parked in the middle of High Charity, just of a different class and size.

Oh I see very interesting. I never knew what that thing was. It’s a shame that the UNSC didn’t take it space haha.

As someone who has been there I can tell you that is not the case.

Nagasaki and Hiroshima have both been rebuilt and have sizable populations.

Oh. Silly me then. Deep apologies.

We will visit Reach once again when it comes out for MCC later this year. To answer your question though… I highly doubt we will in Infinite.

Pretty much this but excited for this game.
