I actually enjoyed fighting Prometheans in the previous Halos, and loved the way they looked, especially the knights. A lot of cool weapons were introduced when they were in the game, I loved the light rifle’s design. I hope we get some sort of DLC, where they somewhat return because them straight up disappearing from Halo currently is just weird, would of least been nice to see them scattered around at least.
Me too, but I’m one of the few that really liked Halo 4’s campaign.
No thanks…
Removing them was one of the few good ideas 343 had
No thank you, glad I haven’t seen them.
in the context of Zeta Halo I imagine it would make no sense for any Prometheans to be there? Though maybe they could be inside of a downed guardian (like the one we see in the distance)
We will probably see them in an Atriox DLC though, as obviously they had to of fought them in order to capture Cortana.
they just weren’t very satisfying to fight and didn’t offer anything new to the combat loop. I think the knights in halo 5 were interesting with their “weak spots” you can individually target, im glad that was incorporated into the sentinels.
What do you mean? They added tons of new weapons and even a vehicle, and they had some weird abilities compared to Banished/Covenant like all the weird stuff the Watchers do.
Sentinels are awesome in Infinite though for sures.
promethean weapons felt like new weapons for the sake of new weapons. they were either identical in function to pre-existing weapons or more damage-heavy versions with some drawback. I don’t think I ever preferred the lightrifle to the BR, suppressor to the AR or scattershot to the shotgun. halo 5 improved things for sure, but they still pale in comparison to the varied and fun forerunner weapons we have now.
the soldiers were basically just elites that teleported around, the crawlers were mechanical cannon fodder minus all the personality of the grunts, and I was never a fan of how the prometheans just teleported into world instead of making some kind of entrance like the covenant did. to me they felt like fighting a more tedious version of the covenant rather than a whole new faction. compare them to the flood, which completely threw a wrench into how you’d typically play halo.
When Halo 4 came out they definitely felt redundant, but they were improved a lot with 5, not to mention that just having them in the game would be fun for variety and for the sake of cool variants.
Because Infinite isn’t linear, this means that putting Prometheans into the open world is far better because it means that if you just don’t like fighting them then you wouldn’t engage the structure/FOB or whatever.
I’m not saying or suggesting that they should become a main enemy/faction (like they were in 4/5) I’m saying that they are a fun side enemy. Like 343i trashed the buggers (hence why they didn’t return) but the buggers would be dope in Infinite in my opinion. Could you imagine a queen
I hope not, personally did not enjoy fighting them.
I dont miss fighting them but it does bug theres really no lore implication as to why they just simply stopped existing
I highly doubt their just gone like gone gone theres proably still some of them around on zeta halo I just wonder what their design will be like?
I enjoyed Halo 4s campaign but did not enjoy the Prometheans, any of the battles involving covenant were much more enjoyable. Much profanity uttered at teleporting knights insta-killing with a melee or the hard light shotgun.
If they do re-add the prometheans I hope they are adjusted to be more enjoyable opponents.
Knights and Watchers were just not fun for me to fight. Crawlers however popped nicely when headshot.
I want to see the Flood back first, with the variants from Halo 3 that fired spines and climbed walls.
As much as I absolutely loved the Promethean plot, I doubt we’ll see them outside of games set during the 2557-2559 timeframe. Cortana’s Empire has fallen, and with it her access to the Domain and utilization of what was already a very limited supply of soldiers. The Prometheans were never a common Forerunner armiger system, only being designed and utilized by the Ur-Didact, and then later Cortana.
Hell no.
After beating the Infinite campaign, I booted up MCC once again to finish the Halo 4 campaign on my new account - immediately I got remembered why I hated this campaign from the bottom of my heart.
The difference in gameplay-quality is like day & night. Obviously these are just opinions, but I’ll never judge a campaign based just on the story - the gameplay has to be considered as well.
Bullet Sponges, annoying, random teleportations, annoying, restrictive way to kill enemies (always take out the watcher first, shoot from distance), low ammo capacity. Some of these things were fixed in H5, but I still never enjoyed fighting them in any way. I really hope they never return in any shape or form
CONmetheans were an interesting enemy, but badly designed.
For one, unlike traditional Covenant enemies, they had those dumb revive Watchers. They also somehow employ swarming tactics with Crawlers like the Flood do.
The entire problem I see with Prometheans are that they have a hard time figuring out their own archetypal encounter style.
Covenant - Little guys up front, Big ones behind. They mostly use Projectile based weapons that are easy to sidestep, with exception of small number of weapons.
Flood - Swarm and flank. Bum rush.
Sentinels - Circle around your cover and beam you. Player needs to keep moving.
Prometheans need to figure out their own encounter style before they can be a Halo mainstay.
OP
I like them too, I hear you.
But I just don’t see it. I think Joe Staten confirmed when asked that they were on a “well deserved holiday”.
It’s a case of risk reward. They know that people like the old art style and enemies like the Banished. There is also a very vocal and loud portion of the players who do not like the Prometheans. They don’t just dislike them, they have made their minds up.
So the risk would be try to redesign a faction people are not 100 percent sold on, instead of either going with what you know works with the Banished or starting over with the Endless.
Plus, Halo 5 was their attempt to breath new life into the faction to make them work. Talking soldiers, new unit types, less tanky knights, nerfed watchers, enemies showing visible damage. So that did not work for a lot of people and they want the game to have universal appeal.
We might see them in a Halo Wars game. I think they would work in that medium quite well.
Finally given that they have not got the Endless fully introduced and the high likelihood of the Flood showing up I just don’t see the space in pure development terms to commit to adding them. I could easily see how they would fit into the story but there are limits and the narrative focus simply isn’t on the Created to warrant it.
I doubt it, afaik they’re controlled by something and since Cortana who controlled them is seemingly no longer with us, then they’d probably just deactivate
Maybe. There is mention of them in the audio series Memory Agent. They haven’t been completely retconned.
Glad they didn’t disappear. The Prometheans might fit well in a Halo Wars game or some DLC, but I don’t see them being reintroduced otherwise.
Also how did your gamerpic even get approved?
