Will We Ever See The odst again?

I thought the storyline for the ODST was very sustaining and wondering what’s next for them? Any theories or speculations on this are welcome.

It seems unlikely…

We don’t know anything about Halo 4 yet, so ODSTs could be there or maybe not.

If you mean a sequel, then I don’t think so.

died on the ark or trying to defend the outskirts of Mombasa after being debriefed and redeployed.

I hope we do, ODST was one of my fav Halo games.

ODST was wonderfully set up to break the gameplay up. Wandering the Mombasa streets at night with the VISR active was a great change of pace from the big action set-pieces like blowing up the ONI building. The game was a blast and I go back and replay the levels a lot more often than any other Halo game. Yes, it was too short. Yes, a lack of matchmaking in Firefight SUCKED. And yes, night-time stealth could have been much much MUCH better implemented (the night levels should have been all about stealth kills). But the characters were the best in the series, and the story narrative was the most cohesive than any in the series. All in all ODST was what I look for in games.

I was disappointed that Reach didn’t follow ODSTs footsteps more. I was surprised we weren’t able to play other characters in Noble Team.

Well, one can always hope
MS is going to need some title in between major Halo releases (5, 6 etc) and while Gears can take some of those, they can’t get em all. MS need some Halo action too, and that’s where "spin off"s are used. Like ODST, Wars or a new IP set in the same universe. A small “something” to keep the fans happy, to try new gameplay mechanics or ideas, but smaller titles with lower budget and dev-time.
I would bet we’ll see an ODST 2 or something like it eventually, maybe even a Halo Wars 2, or a Halo-RPG or something like that (ODST-RPG would make sense)

ODST was a beautiful, yet bit rushed and overpriced game. I wouldn’t be surprised to see new books about them, but I doubt that 343 will create a prequel or sequel to ODST. I hope they make another ODST game though, I love ODST’s.

Well Halo 3: ODST took place between the events of Halo 2 and 3. Who’s to say that there won’t be another taking place between the events of Halo 3 and 4?

The ODST squad could be given assignments to destroy what’s left of the Covenant on Earth.

Take place during Halo 2 btw.

Halo 3: ODST was born of necessity - Bungie promised Microsoft two more Halo games before they would be allowed to split, and Reach was only one. It was either Bungie did two “main” installments and stuck around for quite a few more years, or they fart out Halo 3: ODST to tide people over before Reach hit stores. They chose to take the most expedient route out of Microsoft’s hands and thus we are stuck with Halo 3: ODST - a beautiful accident. I really don’t think Bungie suspected this game to be their best-told narrative and contain their most effective video game atmosphere, sometimes rivaling Halo: Combat Evolved in sheer inspiration (it is harder to do than you would think).

So, all of that said, and considering the link somebody posted earlier, I don’t think we’ll be getting another small game featuring the ODSTs as protagonists. That was a one-off born out of interesting circumstances that probably won’t occur between these new Halo installments.

Yes and No, another ODST is likely (between Halo 4/5/6) but I guess it would offer new ODSTs, made by 343i to fit their Universe.

I liked expanding the Halo game-play beyond just being MC. I don’t see why MS feels it has to zero in on one protagonist.

I’m sorry to say this but I am unsure if the ODST boys will be returning. We can all still have hope but for now I am unsure.

It would be awesome if we could play an ODST on the first halo ring. If you read the books when they are on Halo for the first time the ODST’s along with other marines hold a base camp and have some pretty epic battles!

Okay this may seem weird, But I’m the second of command of an Elite clan but the ODST game was my favorite Halo game. It was the 1st Halo 360 game I played. Plus it has Nathon Fillion man! He is my favorite actor Okay. If wasn’t for him ODST would have sucked. So thank you Bungie for making GySgt Buck. I pray to God that you make a preqaul or a sequal.

Also if they make a prequal they should make mash up with the seen with him in Halo Reach & if they make sequal it should focus on either A or B.

A: Fighting the flood on Earth while Master Chief & the Arbiter left to go to the Ark. one of the sqaud mates will have to die in that game.

B: Something to do with Halo 4.

Halo 3: ODST was the first Halo game I played, and I’ve been a die-hard ODST fan ever since (My Reach avatar is competely ODST). As for the helljumpers reappearing? Of course they will, as long as the new trilogy involves the UNSC. Since the ODSTs were in business long before the Human-Covenant War, they won’t be going anywhere for a long, long time. I only hope that the ODSTs will get a bigger role in a game with Master Chief; when Master Chief’s in a game, the helljumpers often get pushed into the background, and they need to be put in the foreground with #117. I recommend the Halo 3: ODST squad with the spotlight on Master Chief and the Rookie.

At Halo Fest Frankie hinted the Spirit of Fire from Halo Wars may return so the ODST’s could be back as well.

Sadly my guess would be no. 343 is going to be very, very, very busy making the next Halo trilogy.
