I really hope, someway, 343 can get fit Nathan Fillion (voice actor for Buck) back into the series. He’s one of my favorite characters in the Halo series and I’d love to see him return. I loved his part in ODST, and Reach was a disappointment. Thoughts?

You just had to tack that on at the end there, didn’t you?

Well in all fairness, it was.

I honestly don’t blame him.
Reach didn’t disappoint me in the slightest, but that’s probably because I was expecting a spin-off, rather than Halo 4. I can understand being disappointed by a game featuring the Master Chief, Cortana, and the usual crowd if it were to incorporate things like bloom and armour abilities, but considering that Bungie constructed a completely new set of environments with a completely new cast, I honestly can’t understand why the alterations they made are so maligned.
i hope we see him again or the whole squad again i think their all awesome characters

I just can’t understand how an ODST is more akin to Master Chief than Noble 6.

If you’re looking for a canonical explanation for bloom and armour abilities, I’m afraid you’re wasting your time. We can attempt to use the mythology to justify those things as fervently as we like, but the simple truth is that they were included for gameplay reasons, and not as reflections of the narrative.
I could live without him in the next games, but I sure hope that we see him sometime in the future.

We were promised Halo’s Titanic but got Halo’s Die Hard. They didn’t invest enough of in-game time to the characters that they couldn’t stop talking about in interviews. I was expecting to be moved, that’s why I’m disappointed.
Just as well, the battle was poorly depicted. An example I like to use is the part where the evacuation ship gets destroyed. It was supposed to be a moment that “truly depicted the tragedy of the battle and all the people who died” when I didn’t see or hear a single person die, I just saw a cool explosion and a crash. I can’t emotionally attatched to a flying hunk of metal, they should have shown the refugees getting on board, or at the very least had some screaming when the ship got hit. There was no hint of humanity present except for the pilot; like the rest of the game’s plot (barring Jorge) it was emotionally detatched.

I agree with you on this particular occasion in the game, they definitely could’ve developed the scene a lot more and produced more of sadness.
However, other times in the Campaign did do this, Kat’s unexpected death (I know this isn’t a huge favourite for many) and actually playing the last, hopeless and inevitable stand as Noble 6 spoke out to me quite a bit.
I have a feeling Halo 4 will take this portion of the game to new levels. I’ve heard Sotaro Tojima mention a few times that one of his aims within his music is to make people cry. That and the apparent large focus of Halo 4 is Chief’s relationship/status with Cortana.
On topic:I think it is quite likely we will see Buck again. This could be in any context though, games, books etc.

Noble 6 I’ll agree on, that was cool; Kat I simply didn’t care about in the first place, so it had no impact on me.
Reach had it’s good moments, but the bad for me just outweighed the good.
Oh, and consider this: If the Spartan IV Program is taking in the best and brightest soldiers of the UNSC, would Buck not qualify? “If he was any better, he’d be a Spartan.”
I think it’s possible we’ll see him again.
