I loved the original version of Breakout when Halo 5 launched. I haven’t played in about 8 months, so I get back on and find out that breakout now has shields and new weapon loadouts. Correct me if i’m wrong but wasn’t the whole gimmick of breakout was that you didn’t have shields? 343 ruined this game mode for me.
Yah it was changed a while back. Both modes may get replaced with extermination though.
Classic Breakout had no shields, and you started with an SMG rather than a Shotgun. You also had to bring the flag to the enemy side - which is ridiculous and contradicts the norm - in order to score it.
I believe that adding it back as a social playlist was briefly discussed a while back, but no word after that. I prefer the original as well so I hope it returns eventually.

It’s also very easy to get Spartan Charge kills in that particular version, which will most certainly help when it comes to the company commendation. Still will be a b**** to grind though; 9600(?) kills for the final stretch?! Jesus.
It was too functional, therfore it had to be ruined.
