As those who’ve read the written Halo know, The Covenant is much larger than the 7 species we fight in the games and I’m very happy to see that in 343i actually knowledge these different species that didn’t get any game time. One of these species is the Yonhet, basically Batarians from ME. I’m all up for 343i expanding the “extra” species of the Covenant and their roles in the grand scheme.
As far as I the only named Yonhet was Axl. I’m very sure many other people also wish for newer species to be introduced in future Halos and for 343i to give one particular species some Game-time and that is the one race that apparently are so strong that not even hunters can best them. The Sharquoi. The most talked about extra covenant species in all of Halo.
Adding these two species would add for some pretty nice combat. 343i could even have some Yonhet in MP as a substitute for the Elites they seem to hate with the frenzy of 1,000 chimps.
Just saying, if no Elites then what? Hopefully not some Spartan Armor that is designed to look like an Elite. That thought actually made me LoL

I agree that they are really out of place in Halo. Most laiens in Halo have drastic differences from us humans but the Forerunners. I guess they needed something to look more human so they wouldn’t need CGI in any future Halo cinema.
I really would like to see another Faction, representing the old Covenant, made of Brutes, Drones, Skirmisher and who knows ? The AI/Species battles is my favourite thing of Halo

“frenzy of 1,000 chimps” lol.

Sharquoi would be pretty awesome to fight against. I could see them having multiple types. Maybe a type with a big bubble-shield to protect the smaller guys with him, another with two hunter fuel rod cannons mounted on his shoulders, another that just tries to stomp you or fling suicide grunts at you… sounds legit.
I’d like to see the huragok, brutes and skirmishers return. Brutes should come as two subspecies: the “civilized” well groomed brutes of H3, and the brainless ape monsters of H2.
The “doberman gator” could be a domesticated pet from Elite homeward and occasionally used in combat, like dogs. Could go free bird, or with some nifty armor/shields to protect against gunfire. Imagine having to fight a charging zealot with sword and his two gators.
also bring back the porcupine, space squirrel, and blind wolf for ambience-sake. Blind wolf can be a neutral party that will attack the player if the player gets too close or shoots at it.

I don’t think there is anything in this post I don’t like.

Ugh… The Yonhet are a terrible, terrible design… I would be more than happy to just act as though they never existed. If any “new” species are going to be as uninspired, then no, no new species should be introduced.
I’d like to see all three subspecies of Kig-Yar being randomly generated in a dropship. So every time you run the same mission combat would vary. And I’d like to see left and right-handed variations aaaaand male and females being randomly generated as males have feathers/spines and females have hard plates on the back of their neck.
And since elites seem to vary in their jaw shape and teeth, the classic shape in 1-3, the variation in Wars, Reach with the teeth and the jaw shape in 4. So if elites are playable you can choose jaw shape just to be a little more personal (unless you were a full helmet)

I like this alot. And i agree
As for the elites thing the Arbiter is a different “race” of elite then Half jaw. Someone made post with photo proof Arbiter Had a dark skin tone with bone like ridges down his appendages. This part of his Linage of Vademee, and is now considered Canon.
So i agree it would be cool to see several different subspecies for each of the different covenant species
The Stoic San 'Shyuum from Janjur Qom hold a lot of potential, even though the planet is said to be destroyed. There are many ways to bring something back from the dead, especially since it’s been stated within the Lore that the Prophets could very well be lying about their planet’s destruction, and considering the Covenant has had “Forbidden Systems” before, it could very well come into play at some point if it fits within the story.
I mean, they road plant’s and giant alligator-like creatures. That’s pretty bad–Yoink- to be honest.

I never knew the Covenant had forbidden systems. Well I probably did but just have no memory of reading or hearing of it but that seems like a major thing to forget. With what you’ve said yeah, they could have The Death Star hidden away in one of those forbidden systems.
