I know 343 is essentially trying to make it the same game form 10 years ago…but this seems like a necessary change regardless! I want to be able to swap weapons with my marines without killing them for it. When I play, I like keeping them alive, and properly arming them for the situation at hand.
Does anyone else feel this way?
Its going to stay as is. They didn’t change anything about the gameplay/engine. I’m not too bothered by it.
It’s the same engine with the same controls, I don’t mind. By the end of the level they’re all dead anyway! lol
Just don’t tank for them. Although their weapons don’t have very much ammo anyways. I always try to keep all of them alive on the silent cartographer on legendary.
That could lead to rocket launcher suicide which would mean changing the AI (so they don’t blow themselves up).
Plus, a bunch of sniper marines = lots of betrayal. It’s already bad enough that going to a certain spot on AotCR with a bunch of marines and sniper Johnson will result in a lot of betrayals.
Finally, there’s a potential chance that the infinite ammo glitch in Halo 3 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvqP0Mi2h1k might be possible.
I’d rather have friendly AI that shoot farther http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIzcigqhV3w#t=3m17s
Plasma rifle marines = elite marines
Needler marines = good marines
AR marines = classic marines
That would make my day!
I don’t know why people had to kill marines for ammo. There tends to be plenty scattered around the level, both UNSC and Covey.
Ghost. An AI change isn’t necessary. Halo 2’s allied AI was piss poor, and my marines riding shotgun that I gave rocket launchers to would blow me up all the time, but I learned to deal with it, or just drive better and angle my hog in such a way that even a person (which they were) could make the shot.
Rolling Flame & About Jews: I don’t kill for ammo. When I played Halo CE, I’ve only actually done it once before to grab a needler in lieu of my empty sniper rifle. Ever since Halo 2, I’ve just always had the knack for properly equiping my marines for the coming scenario, or for the entire level. Because they behave a bit differently based on the gun they have, I’d often give them rifles so they stay back just a bit giving support fire since they pretty much suck up close vs. elites & brutes. Other times, I’d give them fire & forget weapons like the needler, or heavy weapons for when I need more firepower, and they can be kind of useful with brute plasma rifles in hand to better take down shields.
I just like walking the marines through things because by themselves on Normal and up, they don’t live. I like playing the game with my AI allies alive through out missions, and sometimes even revert to the last check point to save 1 when playing solo. It’s not that I need them, but rather, that’s just how I enjoy the campaign the best when playing solo.

Same again. And to be honest, I prefer using Covie weapons during the campaign, first and foremost the plasma pistol. It has a very high rate of fire, is very accurate for a plasma weapon, and stuns opponents.
