Will we be able to rank down in Halo 5?

Currently, with the way CSR works, you are unable to go down in rank. I am Onyx in Team Slayer, but I continually get destroyed and it isn’t very fun. Most matches I play end up with the other team beating the team I am on very badly, or if my team does win, it is often because I get carried by good players. I think that this is mainly due to me being placed in Onyx even though I should probably be in Silver or Gold.

During my ten placement games, my W/L was about 50/50, and my KDR was pretty average, but for some reason, the game put me in Onyx. This wouldn’t be much of a problem if I could go down to Gold or Silver, but I can’t. The EXP bar just goes to the very bottom of Onyx and just stays there if I continue to lose.

This is a big flaw in CSR because if someone who would normally be Bronze or Silver gets carried during their ten placement matches and gets placed in Onyx, then they are not playing against those of similar skill level.

My question is, will ranking down be possible in Halo 5? I don’t want to be placed in a tier that is too high for me and not be able to get back down to the appropriate tier.

My feeling about the initial ten game placement is that there is something off. I almost want to say that the initial placement phase should be extended to 25ish games.

i feel like I am playing in my proper league (gold) but sometimes I see players above or below me that completely contradict their ranks.

My issue with “first 10” is that it ranks you as a “scrub” and not as someone looking to test their metal.

The HCS playlist may not need a buffer before ranking because it’s a community driven playlist where maps are constantly studied and played offline. But other playlists would be unfair to attempt to judge you within your first 10.

I’d like something like a 5 game buffer before the game starts to attempt to record your ranking in the playlist other than invisible rank and HCS so that players get a chance to grasp the playlist.

The system they use in then first 10 games is horrible.

I got placed in bronze on my main account, and in onyx on my secondary account.

Needs more games, or just an removal. Have an only rating system like they “have” going from 0(1500)-3000.

I assume the 10 first games are placing you between 0-1400 based on something that just doesn’t work.

First, you can down rank as it happened to me after being completely disconnected from a match (went from Silver III to Silver II). But if you can’t down rank from Onyx it suggests that yo can’t currently drop below the main tier you’re in.

Second, as for why the former is true as well as the odd placements in matches is simple. Since the player population is so small many matchmaking features are turned off because otherwise you would wait an unreasonable amount to find a game. The first point probably exists because they know that you’ll probably get screwed otherwise.

Did you play your secondary first?

No, but my main is only a few exp away from Onyx now.

Yeah, exactly. I’ll see Silver and even Bronze players who have way better stats than me, and I wonder why they aren’t in a higher tier.

I know that you can go down in rank in your tier (Silver III down to Silver II). I was talking more about how you can’t go down from, say, Onyx I to Gold III. I am just hoping that we will be able to in the final release of the game. Since this is a beta, CSR should hopefully be working properly in the final release.

I believe the game has seasons, meaning for like 4 months or so you get placed in a certain tier and try to move up form there. After the season ends, your rank is reset and you do the placement process again.

These rank’s you get in the “rank” playlist you get will be reset every 6-12 weeks basing off the season. So you will end up doing that 10 provisional game -Yoink- again. So brace yourself But once you hit a certain rank. You cant go down once you hit the next rank. from Silver to bronze if thats what your wondering. Im semi and i havent beaten kids with 1500 in semi which is the lowest you can go and they are still semi’s the next game I see em. I dont think you can go down once you hit the next rank, i dont think you can after the final release. Only way to get better is to play better kids.

Also, I hope that they keep it so that people can’t de-rank lower than whatever league/class they are. That ish is annoying.

I KNOW. I got placed in Bronze, honestly I could care less. I get people who are silver and gold on my team, but they suck. A bunch of irons and bronzes just whooped are -Yoink-? LOL

Also, I shouldn’t even SEE onyx players in my game. Why are they showing up in my games? Most of them have been pretty try hard.

I agree that de-ranking could be a problem, so that could be why 343 isn’t letting us rank down. Perhaps if it was only possible to rank down one tier, as in, you could rank down from Onyx to Gold, but not any further. I think that could be fair.
