Will Wall Running and Double Jumping be in Halo 6?

Hey guys.
I have been thinking about this particular topic for a pretty long time. Every Halo game in some way or the other has had some sort of ‘innovation’. Not saying that the innovation was good or whether it was copied from some other shooter but it was there. Be it Halo Reach’s armor abilities, Halo 4’s loadout, perk and ordinance system(I know it was horrible but still) and most recently, Halo 5’s Spartan Abilities which have IMO changed the entire Halo formula in a huge way. Now as far as I know, these Spartan Abilities are generally well received by the Halo fans, and most of them admit that these are things that are innovating in a good way. Agreed, some people still might feel the need to have that classic Halo back but this is what we’ve got. And I believe Halo 5 as a multiplayer game is pretty good and well balanced.
Now my question to you people is, despite these ‘changes’, I can’t help but feel it being kinda similar to the games like Call of Duty Advanced Warfare and/or Titanfall. Don’t get me wrong here, there’s nothing wrong with borrowing from other games provided it works. And it has worked pretty well so far. So umm… I really don’t think 343i are going to go back to the classic gameplay with Halo 6. I am pretty sure they are going to build upon what made Halo 5 great since it’s gameplay has been fairly well received by almost everyone. So we can expect Spartan Abilities to return in Halo 6. But what more are they going to add? Since every Halo game added something or the other, you think Halo 6 might add two new Spartan Abilities that are Wall running and Double Jumping since they are probably going to build upon what made Halo 5 great? I don’t know how I feel about this but if executed in a proper way, it can be good. But I really don’t want Halo to borrow anything from other games and I personally want it to focus on its own strengths.
What would YOU as a person feel if they added Wall Running and maybe remove Clamber in order to incorporate Double Jumping?? Since Double Jumping in some ways can replace Clamber…

Its sales would tank like cod :joy::joy::joy:

Double jumps don’t exist, just make it a high jump ability. Running on walls sounds realistic with use those booster things on their backs to help. Sure! Why not?

No… It’s very important that Halo stays grounded.

I hope not

my guess is 343 will copy some sort of grappeling hook into H6, maybe even something like a hero-mode since overwatch is getting so much hype lately

No thanks. Wall running and double jumping is the last thing Halo 6 needs.

lol where have you been since 2010?

I just don’t think it’s needed. Halo has enough flash and sizzle with regards to map traversal.

I just really hope we don’t get wall running

Jet pack is gone bro…

No they will not. I wish they brought the jet pack back. That was my favorite armor ability.

I would love this in customs and campaign. Maybe a req for WZ.

This. EXACTLY!

I’d rather not see more movement abilities be added into Halo - it would push it too far away from the original games, as well as being clunky in practice. Wall runs and double-jumps already exist in other video games, where it makes more sense.

Ha. I see what you did there.

that type of game dynamic would be very drastic for the Halo community.
i think if that type of mechanic were to be applied, we would see a sharp decline in play ability and community.

just think how well armor lock went.

It’s possible they could make an appearance. For better or for worse. If every other shooter is doing it.

Hahaha, you’re joking? Right?

Wallrunning and double jumping do not support the arena style multiplayer of the franchise. Wallrunning promotes camping at the end of specific walls as well as being easily abusabor meaning players can get into areas they are not supposed to or kill people from across the entire map by useing parallel walls. All in all I really don’t see this as a good idea for a competitive arena franchise.

They did it in Titanfall and it worked perfectly, I’m going to offer some insight on this issue rather than dismiss it, really wish others would too.

Halo and Titanfall are 2 different games, but you didn’t need me to tell you that, but as such must be distinct, I think some form of these abilities would be nice, a derivative of sorts.

Someone said a high jump would be good, and that sounds great, remember the Dark Troopers from SW: Battlefront 2? They had a special jet pack called a jump pack, instead of letting them hover, it would propel them great distances, since Halo has always been more lain out and flat with little clutter I think this would be fantastic for closing distance and cutting time off of sprints. A balance for this could be a cooling unit as a pickup to alleviate the heating as a result of the power the Jets had to use to get you across such a distance, or they could also run on fuel, or maybe some form of both.

Wall running from sheer momentum seems a bit too cartoonish, Halo’s never been a gritty noir or anything, but I think it would break our suspension of disbelief. We’re in a science-fantasy world right? So with some ridiculous things already apart of the story and game, I think magnetic boots wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. A balance would make the spartan reduce to only running speed on walls as they’d have to detach and reattach every step, this could be balanced by the fact that not every wall is magnetic, and if we are to consider using jets for the same effect, on non-magnetic surfaces they would stall and you’d come back down to the ground meaning you could only run with jets on walls for a very short amount of time, as a trade off, it can be a sprint, not only a jog.

Tell me what you think.
