Hey guys. I have mostly used the Reclaimer(Halo 4/Reach’s default) controller layout in most Halo games. But I recently started using Bumper Jumper in MCC. I really liked it and have decided to stick to it. But I was wondering whether I’ll be at a disadvantage when using it in Halo 5. My main problem is that Thrusters are assigned to X when using Bumper Jumper. Wouldn’t it be kinda hard to aim while using it?You’ll have to move your fingers off your right thumb stick if you want to use Thrusters. So what my question is, will it be a big problem or I’ll sorta get used to it?Since as far as I can recall, we don’t need to aim as such while using Thrusters.
You can’t aim while thrusting anyways. As a BJ user, I never had trouble with Thruster on the X button. That goes for H4 and 5
It wasn’t bad in the beta. I will be picking up and elite controller though and mapping ‘X’ to a different button or to a paddle. Idk if you have heard about the controller, there are others out there besides this but here’s a link just in case. I here some comment on the price tag but it is in competitive with other comparable brands.
Just saying if you want to be unimpeded in your use of your controller, I looks like it would be worth checking out. Most control schemes seem to have one or two buttons that are inconvenient imo, so yep.

You sure can aim; the thrust doesn’t impede you from keeping your reticule on the target. If I remember correctly from the beta there is an animation that keeps you from shooting but by no means keeps you from looking with the joystick.
I’m getting an Elite controller, so it won’t matter.
I personally didn’t have an issue but there certainly isn’t a best settings without adding 2 more bumpers and/or going Elite.
in the beta each layout had something hard to do, i think with BJump (please don’t call it BJ, its distracting) it was aiming where to ground pound and with default i think it was using stabilizers on toggle not auto and so on, but with the elite controller as mentioned above i will be playing Bjump like im used to but putting the baxy functions onto the paddles so i don’t have to take my thumbs off the sticks at all… all i have to do is learn to play with paddles… new muscle memory training… yay…
I worked in the beta quite well for me

I enjoy BJ. It’s the control scheme for me. It just feels… Good.
I have a SCUF and will be getting an Elite Controller. So the issue will be resolved for me.
I’m going to echo the sediment here and say the elite controller will eliminate this problem for me by remapping thruster to a back paddle I will probably end up remapping weapon and grenade swap buttons to the back paddles as well
I used BJ in beta, and it was fine. I know they tweaked the buttons on the group pound though, so I’m not sure how that will operate anymore.

They remapped ground pound to melee button after the beta

I use bumper jumper. It wasn’t too much of a problem in the beta, however, I usually use it to evade nades or get back in cover so aiming while thrusting was not a huge priority.
I’m getting an elite controller and will likely map aim, thrust, and sprint to the paddles while playing bumper jumper.

Phrasing.
For bj users, no it wasnt at all difficult in the beta. At least with how I play it didn’t. What was really difficult for me was the -Yoink!- thrusters in the air when aiming, and ground pound when I tried ghandi hopping.
Beyond that it wasnt bad at all!
I’m ashamed to say that I claw, lol. I use my index finger for A, B, Y, and X when I need to simultaneously aim/shoot. For me, it’s damn useful, AND I’m not disfigured from it, soooooo…
I don’t know guys. I tried using Thruster Pack in Halo 4 as well. I found using it with X was kinda weird. I could have bought an Elite controller(might still get it) but since I am not a competitive gamer, I really want to avoid spending 150 dollars.
