Will this fully replace MCC?

Part of me thinks as they intend for this to be the flagship Halo for the next ten years they will incorporate Halo MCC somehow.

Pipe dream but imagine if the level of customisation is so good they can make the previous Halo games but in Halo Infinite graphics. As long as the mechanics aren’t updated like with Halo 2 Anniversary.

I’m assuming they will be bringing in a huge number of maps over time to keep the game fresh. I can’t wait to see Guardian return, it’s one of if not the best map of all time in my opinion.

I hope they can customise a lot of things and have left it open to tweaking different properties. Would be good if they can increase slightly different aspects of guns like increased damage, range, spread, mag size, reload speed, drop off etc etc. You assume they must do with new weapons being added in over time. Setting up the game so they can easily modify things like vehicle durability and speed would mean for great shenanigans in custom games but also a great template to keep the game fair and competitive over time as the meta changes.

It will replace MCC as much as Halo 3 replaced Halo 2.
Do you mean it will make MCC obsolete?

MCC will still be around.

Yeah that’s what I meant cheers. Will this fully replace MCC by offering what MCC has but better.

Feel like they won’t want to split the community and will what to drive as many players to HI as possible.

I think it will be last for 2 months then the newness will wear off and the serious players will return to mcc. Hopefully I’m wrong but we will see

I agree. I don’t think MCC’s population will completely disappear because of Infinite.

I think the games will be soooo different it will not appease the old school players.

MCC will still get loved.

I mean we have Halo 5, a lot of people play MCC, dare I say more play MCC?

I mean is that mainly the case cause they continued to update content for the MCC compared to Halo 5? I know many people weren’t pleased with Halo 5, but I welcomed it and it’s differences and really enjoyed it for what it was, and that’s after playing Halo since it’s existence in 2001.

But I think Halo Infinite (if liked well) will draw much of the player base away from MCC for quite some time.

I think it’s moreso that MCC is on two platforms and Halo 5 is only on one. That being said, I agree that Halo Infinite will draw people away from MCC, but MCC is never going to just wither away and die. Support for MCC will slow down significantly and I believe the last season is sometime after Halo Infinite’s release, but it’s not going to disappear.

I actually hope not. While it looks good. Ten years of the same game will get old if they don’t bring in stuff they said wouldn’t be in. Ie duel welding to bring in some new game types and elites so it’s not just Spartans all the time. It got old just seeking them. It was nice to see an elite once in a whole in 2 and 3.

I think they’ll eventually include Halo 5 into MCC which would be a great idea. Just retire previous Halo games to MCC so we can still enjoy every game and still make MCC feel fresh. Of course, my hard drive would disagree with this.

I don’t think we will see the upcoming Halo Infinite replace the Halo Master Chief Collection. From what I have seen in the Halo Infinite trailers especially the Halo Infinite Multiplayer trailer, it looks like the game could get multiple seasons and updates like the Halo Master Chief Collection currently have on Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC.

Agreed, they’re’s no way us sweats will never play MLG H3 once Infinite hits, like come on.

If they do think it will replace TMCC they’re in for a rude awakening. I’m not even convinced this would replace H4 for me, Much less Halo 2 or H:CE.

I doubt it. If Infinite ends up being fairly popular (being free to play for the multiplayer I’d say there’s a high chance of that) then 343 will likely end support for MCC after a few months and focus everything on Infinite. If MCC continues to have a healthy playerbase because Infinite doesn’t satisfy a lot of old school Halo players, MCC could still get support for some time. (When 343 said in the past they have enough content for 10 seasons, beyond that they aren’t sure, that says to me that going beyond a season 10 for MCC is gonna be based on how much of the playerbase it loses with the launch of Infinite). So only time will tell.

Being a live service offering the game you play at launch won’t be anything like what you play at year 10 .

There should constant be updates and balance passes as well as the ability to pivot with trends if the slip space engine is able to do what it was designed to do
I’m doubtful it will go anywhere close to 10 years myself

Probably not, there’s always going to be people who will want to go back and play the older games, whether it’s to re-play a campaign, play a few rounds of multiplayer, Custom games browser is launching with Season 7 so you’ll almost always be able to find a game even if matchmaking is dead/slow, Nostalgia is a hell of a drug and old-school Halo will always satisfy that itch.

There will also be those people who might prefer how the old Halo’s plays over Infinite so they can always go back to MCC if that’s what they find fun.

Halo MCC is probably still going to get some kind of support after Infinite launches, new seasons, apparently mod support, maybe MCC will have some unlockables for Infinite like Halo 5 does when you reach SR 152.

HCS has put quite a bit into MCC. I don’t doubt the current streamers will continue to stream MCC even when Infinite is out. I wouldn’t expect them to stream it AS much but I don’t expect them to stop doing so.
