Will they ever add more Cross-Game armor?

I thought it was really cool how all the helmets added in the Season 8 Battle Pass were available in both Halo 3 and Halo Reach. Do you think they might ever go back and do that with other armor that’s already in MCC?

I know there’s already a lot of helmets in MCC shared between the games, but there’s a few exclusive to specific games that I would love to see be cross-game. For example the Grenadier Helmet is only available in Halo Reach, but I would love to see it in Halo 3 and Halo 4 as well, even if it’s just a variant with a slightly different art style to better match those games.

Seeing other armor pieces like shoulders and chest pieces would be cool too, but I think helmets would be the most important and appreciated. Anyway, what do you think? I figure they have way more important things to prioritize, but it would be pretty cool if this ever did happen.

Probably not considering how much backlash they got for doing it in Season 8.

It sucks, because the concept would work amazing between Halo 4 and H2A, and it would be awesome to have Mirage and Orion be available in both H2A and Halo 3, but I can also understand why its bad since 343 tends to do the bare minimum for keeping graphics in Parity with the games overall designs. (Good example; Halo 3’s new visuals. With how much has been overhauled, they really should be using the Mark VI model from the H2A Campaign instead of the gutted Halo 3 model so that all the new armors don’t have that massive disparity in quality)

I wouldn’t mind seeing the SPI armor in Reach.

I hope so, but in an… unusual way.

Personally, I’d love to see the Halo 3: ODST multiplayer model options be boosted with Fireteam Raven options, even if it’s just Alpha Squad (Buck, Dutch, Mickey, Romeo and the Rookie) wearing the Raven teams’ armour, or even the option to play ODST Firefight as Sgt. Johnson in his Halo 3 marine attire.

The ideal scenario would be to just do away with limiting players based on selecting an ODST character, and have the armor split up so you can choose the individual helmet, shoulders, etc like on a spartan. Then add in all the fireteam raven ODST armors from Halo 3. Maybe even add the ODST armor set from Halo 4 and Halo Reach as well, for the sake of art style variety.

Making a system like that would require a player’s ODST to have more purpose in the game than just being used when people play Firefight though. Maybe make it so in Halo 3 MM you can choose between playing as Spartan, Elite, and ODST. That would be amazing and actually make there be a point to having ODST customization.

I’ve seen this suggestion before, and while on the surface it sounds great, it’s completely counter to the entire design philosophy behind the customization in ODST’s Firefight. in ODST, you aren’t meant to be playing as your own character, but rather as a character provided for the setting, such as Buck, Romeo, Dare, etc. Optimally they would expand this with more characters throughout the lore to choose from, maybe even some characters that could classify as a fracture like they did with Kat and Emile in Gears of War (who wouldn’t want to play as a major character from Fallout 3 or New Vegas for instance?)

if the demand for a Star Wars Lego 2 styled custom ODST is what people are really asking for, then the wisest way for them to go about that would be to have a system akin to the preferred species in Reach; have the custom ODST be it’s own “species” like Spartans that have with the more in-depth level of customization, while the other “species” is just selecting a character much like the Elite armor sets are at present. that way you preserve legacy intent while also gaining the ability to have a singular character that is your own, as well as leaving the door open for actual characters to be added down the road if possible.

Wouldn’t mind seeing the Halo Online Armor in Halo 4, as it looks like it was made for that game

I want, at least, the helmets, ODST shoulders and the water bottle accessory ported from Reach to H3.

Hopefully we could see some Halo 5 armors ported to Halo 4 MCC. Athlon, Helioskrill, and all the Noble Team themed armors would be ideal.

Or, what if all the Reach armors were moved over to Halo 3 and 4. as well as getting techsuit customization like Halo 3 did.

Techsuit customization broke the shoulders and hands on the Halo 3 spartan model and it still hasn’t been fixed till this day so please god no don’t break the Reach model as well.

I used to want custom ODSTs more, but I think you’ve convinced me. If it compromises the idea of playing cool existing characters with more drastically different armor, like Keyes or Halo 2 Stacker for example, then I don’t think it’s worth it. Not to mention that being able to see the ODST cosmetic differences in-game will be less noticeable and drastic than it is the other games, especially since you’re typically looking at enemies, not other players. And, of course, the importance of individual troopers in ODST.

However, I don’t know if we can assume that 343 is permitted to reuse voice clips from voice actors in other context, since licensing is weird. I don’t know enough legal whatnot to say for certain. Since ODST trooper armor is piece-by-piece in the game’s engine to swap characters and cosmetics, it may be easier to expand customization than expand the character roster.

Regardless, the biggest cross-game implementation we REALLY need are weapon skins and visor colors, which wouldn’t compromise either design philosophy. Adding the transparent visors from the campaign would be absolutely sick (with Rookie using Markus Lehto’s blurry and indistinguishable face used in the Halo 3 Beta)

I believe the actually fixed the hands for the GEN1 suit, they reverted it back the the default but has a lighter shade on it

Can 100% agree on the shoulders, makes the CQC shoulders look so out of place & unpleasing to the eye

Thats the change that broke the hand armor:

The Gen 2 glove model was stretched to match the legacy Gen 1 skeleton, dislocating the finger joints, and causing the backhand and finger plates to clip through the fingers. meanwhile the Gen 1 fitted design lifted from H2A (which was designed to match the new finger plates) was replaced with the outdated and lower quality legacy hands, which are the cause of the clipping, since the armor plates on the fingers were something specifically removed so that the new arms wouldn’t clip.

Also the fix for the Mark VI model in Halo 3 is just to replace it with the in-game H2A Campaign armor that the Gen 1 techsuit was lifted from, all the weird issues with the biceps and shoulders caused by cutting up the legacy model were accounted for there, and the model quality actually matches all the new armor and textures.

there’s better ways to do it than how it was in Halo 3, for example: designing new techsuits with the the normal techsuit’s proportions, or even basing new techsuit designs off the default techsuit and just adding color elements to certain areas.

Apparently they’re gonna add a bunch of new Spartan armor to H2A, but once again nothing for elites, I’d at least appreciate being able to Use the Halo Online Stuff That was ported to 3, and maybe 4/5 armor in H2A.
