I’m was a big fan of H2 and very glad it’s coming back. But I question whether the majority of the gamers that say they’re getting Halo MCC will actually like H2.
The appeal of H2 was that it was a great FPS at a time when high-speed internet and Xbox were still new things. It is VERY stripped down when compared to all the loadouts, theater, forge, assorted weapons, sprint ability, armor skins etc that these games have now.
For goodness sake it’s a 10 year old video game! Will the graphics update really help that much? I hope so…
A good game is a good game. You know what, maybe they won’t like it. Not because it’s “too difficult” (look at dark souls, it’s doing amazing and the entire point of the game is to be difficult) but perhaps because it might not appeal to a newer generation.
Like music, Gaming will evolve over time and tastes will change.
That said, I still expect a pretty positive reception from old fans and new fans alike.

I never played quake in the day, or Counter Strike 1.6, but that hasn’t stopped me from playing them now and enjoying them. A good game is a good game, it was popular for a reason.

Curious as to why you care about someone else liking Halo 2. Majority of the people getting Halo MCC know what to expect and are fans of Halo. Will newcomers like Halo 2? That is entirely up to them. The graphics shouldn’t look that bad in 1080p 60fps… But they really shouldn’t be playing the game for graphics alone anyways.
I’ve only really gotten to play the Campaign. All Halo Campaigns should be that difficult. As for the multiplayer, I am so damn excited, I’m sure I will enjoy it. I’ve some Halo 3 Matchmaking and that is fun. Something is telling me people are going to get mad at be for saying H3 is similar to H2.
It’s a big possibility that new fans that never played Halo 2 back in the older days will not find Halo 2 classic or even Halo 2 anniversary that fun. Especially with the learning curved involved with the older games when it comes to a wider skill gap. But since we had to open up minds as older gamers to experience this new generation of games, maybe those who are new should open up there minds and experience what we used to play.

But I only think it will happen if they don’t give Halo 2/CE a real chance. If they search matchmaking and get spawnkilled because they don’t know anything, they may just never play it. But, whoever gives Halo 2 a real chance will LOVE it, I guarantee it.

Ive been playing from the beginning. I prefer Halo 4 over the others with Reach coming in at a close second.
Thats not to say that i wont enjoy Halo 2 and H2A. I will simply enjoy Halo 4 more. To each thier own.
The thing is, it’s still a fantastic game. I was just playing it with my sons not a few hours ago. It was a blast. Then we jumped into h4 for some dodgeball. Being able to go back and forth is going to be the greatest thing ever.
But I will say that even I was missing sprint on the large maps. I think it was more a function of only having 4 players on headlong. Never missed it on midship
If they give it a true chance they will love it. The great thing about the first 2 Halos was it was actually impressive to be good at those games. It took skill and practice. After I quit playing Halo 3 after about 3 years I hear about this game called Halo Reach that’s coming out. I don’t get it at launch. After about 1 month of it being out my friend calls me and said he’s at walmart getting Reach and wants to play matchmaking. I go over to his house and the first game is DMR start on the map with the big circle thing in the middle and the Rockets by the waterfall. Our team had a guy quit and we still won 50-45 and my friend and I combined for 45 of the kills. I knew then Reach was too easy to get good at. It took literally zero work

I care because I’d still be playing H3 if the population was still there. I only play for online MM, so I need a population to compete with and against or it’s zero fun.

A good point. Games like Marathon should certainly be at least tried by new(er) gamer folks.

That doesn’t make you any better than any of us other Halo fans.
