Will There Ever Be Ingame Stats? Halo 5 Had It, Why Can't Halo Infinite Have it?

I still play Halo 5 regularly and I usually play a Halo game for 4-5 hours in 1 session, with Halo Infinite I like to play BTB for 1-2 hours then check my stats before I move onto a 4vs4 playlist, can’t do that in Halo infinite, there are no ingame stats and Halo Tracker takes too long to update.

Waypoint site tracking is useless, there is no kdr for halo infinite and your KDR on waypoint is lower than what it is ingame for Halo MCC and Halo 5.

I am currently playing and it isn’t updating at all right now.

Halo Tracker is usually 20 minutes or so behind. I’ve seen it take longer before, but it’s fairly consistent on being updated within 20 minutes of match start/end.

I agree that in game stats would be a welcome addition.

It updated for me but my KDR is still the same. On Feburary 20 I played but I didn’t play long since I felt really tired from not sleeping, it said my KDR was 1.55 out of 6 matches played yet my overall KDR of 1.43 didn’t go up at all, it was 1.43 before I started playing. I’ll have to play again to see if it changes.

Now the Waypoint app doesn’t work.

It just closes when you try to look at your stats.

Always happy for more stats.

The more the better.

Just not KD.

Never has there been a more useless / toxic stat.

We can do better.

How there is no service record in game Infinite is another mind boggling move by 343I. It should most definitely be in there! I’m not surprised it isn’t though, as this game was so bare bones and had/has so many issues still it’s ridiculous.

I highly doubt we’ll get an in game service record like we used too. This game may be pretty good in another year or so but it doesn’t matter anymore. Damage is done. I’ve never been (along with my friends) so non motivated to play a Halo game ever in my life! And I started with CE way back when.

Sad what Halo has become :disappointed:

Because having stats ironically costs too much money

I would love to see how many times I killed “SpicyTourtise96” and how many times “DeathCheesecakeWillie45” killed me at the end of matches like past Halo titles but most importantly, Why do I go 30-5 with the W in a BTB match but my name is all the way at the bottom of the list at the end of the match like I didnt contribute to the W?? Its deflating and it makes me feel like my hard work were just empty stats and now Im not encouraged to play the next match… Its tacky too… Fix it 343i. :man_facepalming:t6:

I’m not that fussed that stats aren’t in game per se.

It’s an unnecessary stress on the game servers.

It’s so easy to go online and check your stats on Waypoint. Everyone has a phone, tablet, or laptop - you can peruse to your heart’s content.

But the flip side of this is that 343 need to give us way more stats.

Or the API back so we can get our own.

Where are the PvP tables that @NOBLE_SOBEK is talking about. I want to know who killed me. How many times. And who stole my assists.

I want heat maps.

I want an outline of a Spartan showing where my shots are hitting (a heat map for accuracy).

I want proficiency break downs for each weapon. Use, accuracy, kill distance.

And most of all I want damage stats. I’ve harped on this before - but damage for and against. Effective and escaped. Initial and finishing. Shields vs health. With each weapon. From what distance, height, and direction. Over the course of the match.

And finally… we should be able to look up our MMR and CSR over time. And KPM for each game mode (again over time).

Or just give us back the -yoink- API.

Yeah, but i really doubt 343 will expand stats.
Why would they?
Its time and money that could be spent on more core features, right?
343 gave up on the og stats, they could have just asked bungie for them.
They didnt want to transfer any of the og stats they had with reach and halo 3 because “its too much work”, which is a sick joke.
Unless the game is still broken to the point stats wont work.
This is partially the reason im here.
And no k/d might be your preference, but you are in the minority

That’s somewhat cynical.

Hope your wrong and what we have on Waypoint is just an opening gambit.

Meh. The OG stuff is hardly relevant now.

Doesn’t mean I’m wrong though.

KD is such a useless stat.

It encourages toxic behaviours.

Give me someone with a high KPM over a high KD any day.

One is toxic but the other isn’t? I suggest reevaluating this “logic”

It’s not that hard.

KD is a simple ratio that is easily abused. And has very little context

4 & 2 is a KD of 2.

So is 16 & 8.

But time at least adds some context. Your 4 & 2 in a four minute game suddenly looks a lot better.

KD is really farmed. KPM not so much.

Which is why when MS were building TrueSkill2 they found KPM predicted skill and KD didn’t.

I can play in an lobby higher than my own skill and easily come out with a positive KD. Play super cautiously. Camp like a little -yoink-. Follow the best player and feed off their scraps.

But there is no way I can take on that lobby and match their KPM. Not without being the same skill level.

Of course, all stats are open to abuse. But KD is just -yoink-. To the point that as soon as someone “brags” about their KD my first thoughts are smurfer, camper, or farmer (eg. Griffball).

The best stat of all would be a graph of KPM vs opponent skill level. That would pretty much be the gold standard (of 1v1 skill).

In slayer KD is the only thing that matters

At the very least add time for context.

Make it KPM over DPM.

Which is kind of what you do internally when you peruse the post game stats anyway.

Edited.
Headed for greener pastures.

White Knight for what exactly?

And your retort to my points is to just throw insults at me, 343, and the game?

I’ve described why I think KD isn’t a very good stat. And suggested a better one.

But my take from this is that I should just insert that you are a an anti 343 troll and claim victory? Is that how it works.

Instead explain KD to me…

What is the difference between going 16 & 8 vs 4 & 2…

Maybe.

But hopefully that gives then time to sort out the stats that really matter.

9/10 (a made up stat) I would take the team mate with a KD of 1.0 than anyone with a KD over 2.

Well, k/d is also redundant with kpm and dpm. If you know the match length those latter two values can easily yield the k/d value. The kpm and dpm values are also presumably easier to work with and more useful since the time component is included directly in the values.

Values like accuracy, damage done, damage received, etc. likely fall into a similar boat. I’d expect all of those correlate with kpm and dpm. If they’re higher then kpm and dpm will be better. Generally speaking anyway.

Add all that up and, surprise surprise, kpm and dpm are selected and evaluated. Other stats, not so much. Those two values cover all of the bases.

I don’t know. I’d consider that a player problem. As you said, every stat is open to abuse. I assure you players will find a way to engage in “bad” behaviors. Whether k/d is in the mix or not.

Not really. Park yourself in a corner in slayer and get 3 kills with 1 death throughout the course of a 15 minute game. Sure, you’ll end that game with a pretty 3 to 1 k/d ratio. You’ll probably lose that game too.

Fortunately we don’t need k/d here since… kpm and dpm are a thing.

I’d note, slayer and objective modes aren’t fundamentally different either. Both modes have objectives. The difference is the objectives are simplified in slayer. The way one wins both modes is still generally the same. Put the opponents in the respawn queue for more units of time and keep your own team out of it for more units of time.

Why would we lose if we go positive in slayer?

You won’t. If you all go positive.

But adding in the ratio to time differentiates who in your team had the better KD.

I’m sure it’s something you do anyway. Hey, we both had a KD of 2.0 - but I got more kills. Try and keep up!

A plot of KPM (and DPM) vs opponent rank would pretty much tell you everything you need to know about someone’s ability in a 1v1.

It would be a thing of beauty.
