Will There be Vehicle Drops?

So, the correct terminology for weapon drops is ordinance. Now it’s probably been coined to escape the term ‘random weapon drops’, which 343 is not keen on to say the least. But it could also mean that things other than weapons could be dropped onto the battlefield.

Now I realise it’s a squeeze to fit even a Mongoose into a Drop Pod, never mind a Scorpion. But I am still wondering, can we expect an alternate method of vehicles to be delivered to us, other than them ‘magically appearing’?

Also, if the term ordinance covers Armour Abilities, could we use this function to deliver Armour abilities in custom games, or will we have to place them on the map?

I’d say they’ll magically appear, yep.
I’d actually like to see them spawning with a sort of special effect showing that it is a virtual thing.

If we get set vehicle spawns, I reckon if a tank spawns, a pelican or a phantom should drop it in the match. That way everyone knows its coming.

Oh, I could see that, actually.
Though this might be too big and too crazy to make something like that.

Well I’m sure canonically there is no reason for dropships to not be able to deliver vehicles. Bungie managed to get dropships to drop vehicles in Firefight, so I’m sure the Xbox is up to it.

Could be hazardous for pilots, but I guess if you couldn’t avoid the massive dropship, you probably shouldn’t have been flying anyway.

Do you imagine the mess that it would be on a map like Hemorrhage that has, like, 10 vehicles?
Can’t happen this way. :stuck_out_tongue:

Or maybe they can do it similar to the weapons. Only the heavy hitters get fanfare for appearing. Mongoose, ghost, warthogs, etc all appears as normal. They respawn quickly and as you say could cause a mess. But if say only the tanks were brought in by drop ship and possibly the aerial vehicles could be remotely flown in by AI.

If this makes to easy to destroy them even before they hit the ground like in firefight, then it won’t work.
