Will there Be Ranked In Halo Infinite?

Question is in the title but while you’re here what would you like to see for a ranked mode?

1-50

IDK about that one chief, I liked the H5 rankings more actually I feel like I’m grinding for a level with 1-50 rather than a medal. Is this what others feel though?

I personaly enjoy having a rank that I know will be there next time I get back on. I played H3 to death getting 50s in different playlists. Why bother trying to rank up in H5 if next season I have to start over?
Not saying H5’s system is bad. It just never held the same sort of weight to me.

As long as we have a solid ranking system that is of actual value I will be happy. I dont really see the point in H5’s grind to 152. It doesn’t mean anything. You couldn’t be a General in H3 if you didn’t get at least one 50. Since it was displayed in the lobby, people could see that and it showed other players your accomplishment.

Edit: not saying it was ever perfect. The 1-50 should be adjusted somewhat.

You don’t really start all over though. You have to play 10 placement matches but your matchmaking rating carries over each season.

My apologies then. I was not aware of that.
I think what would be good is having the 1-50 ranks like before, but once you get to 50 you gain access to a playlist exclusively for 50s. That playlist would then use the elo style H5 ranks. While I do think the H3 1-50 worked really well, not all 50s were the same. After you got to a certain point it basically became word of mouth as to who was “good”.

Yeah that sounds like a good idea. The most recent matchmaking thread goes into a lot of detail about how the ranking and matchmaking in H5 works. It’s pretty long but the info is pretty interesting. Here’s the link:

Knowing alot of online games with player vs player, ranking will most likely be implemented. I wouldn’t mind ranking similar to how Halo 4 did it with 1 to 50 for CSR.

I expect there will be ranking in Halo Infinite, but I’m not keen on the Halo 3 1-50, it was frustrating at times. I remember winning a lot of games in a row to rank up, but lose one and you drop. I don’t mind ranking as long as it’s fair.

Just remember it doesn’t really matter. It’s “TrueSkill” ranking internally… and then 1-50 or Bronze-Diamond externally (with Onxy creamed off the top).

It doesn’t matter. You will go up/down at the same rate internally.

As long as we have regular resets (seasons) all will be good…

its kinda brutal now unfortunately in H5 too

One could easily argue that Halo 5 is worst and way more frustrating.

Halo 3 had it’s problems, but the simplicity of If you win you go up if you lose you go down was easy to comprehend. When is the team losing as a team, makes sense to me in team playlists.

Halo 5 you could win 10 games in a row and go up one point each time and lose one game and go down 12…like ok. Then you always have the classic cases of people not understanding why some people on the team go up and some people don’t. I can’t even tell you the amount of time I’ve heard things like "so we’re both ranked the same and I’ve done better than you for many games now and I don’t rank up pretty much at all, but you do? Yeah that makes sense…then everyone laughs lol Heck, it was the running joke with me and people I play with that our one friend will always be Diamond 3 no matter how many games we win and how good he does lol

Don’t get me wrong both systems have their flaws but I would rather take Halo 3 system over Halo 5’s right now simply due to the fact everyone understands it and I played a lot of ranked in both games.

Personally what I would like to see is kind of a combination of the two. A player should have an individual rank of how well they play in ranked play in general so it would apply across the board or if you wanted you could do it for each playlist AND I would have each playlist have a rank based on purely wins and losses.

So for example I could be a Diamond 5 in Team Slayer (That’s based purely on wins and losses) and my individual rank across all rank playlists or just that playlist depending on what you want to do is say onyx 1510. Meaning, I’m a good player but when I play team Slayer I’m either playing with people that aren’t as good as me or I don’t work well with others or both lol as my rank is lower. This type of system would also make it so even if you lose but you do really well on your team your playlist rank would go down but your individual rank may go up. I think this type of system would basically make everyone happy and you would have a lot less people complaining about things.

… And to answer the op question, Yes there will be ranked play in Halo Infinite. I would be legitimately shocked if they didn’t put in ranked play.

Given how eSports and building the multiplayer to be incredibly sweaty was top priority, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say yes.

I like Halo 5s system. You can’t just grind your way to champ. If TrueSkill2 says you are a diamond player, you will stay in diamond until you actually improve. If you are a diamond player, and your stuck in platinum CSR and lose a ton of games because of teammates, if you perform better in those games, your rank will go up eventually.

I’ll honestly have to take your word for Halo 5. I dropped the game after a few months, REQ packs killed that game for me. After reading what you wrote I draw the conclusion that lack of population might explain being paired with lower or higher ranks in some cases. That’s not me dismissing yor views, I’m merely adding something you didn’t. I don’t mind what they do as long as it’s fair. Hopefully we’ll know more in July.

I’d be highly surprised if there was no ranked in Halo infinite, It’s been a thing since Halo 2. There would
an outage in the community if it didn’t have it.

See it used to be more fair and give you more slack but since the HCS update they’ve made ranking up really freaking difficult and its frustrating I just want a medal system like H5 that isn’t too complicated ya know

thats not true anymore now that 343 made it so the highest rank you can get after placement matches is diamond 3

But your MMR stays the same. It just takes some matches for your CSR to catch up.
