Will there be Placeable AI in Halo 4's forge?

I think it would be absolutely amazing. Think about it. We’ve all been at the stage in editing a map when all of a sudden it hits us, “Wow, I’d love to test this out with some friends”. Right? Then you go and you try to invite people to play on your map and no one accepts because they have no clue what you’re doing, or maybe they’re in a game of their own. Whatever the case, placeable AI could fix that! There are so many possibilities with it. First off, I think the AI would be a lot easier to take down being as how they’d be operated off of code instead of human logic. Other than that, it would be endless fun. Imagine if you could just set up an AI to do a multitude of things:

  • Run a continuous path in a straight line.
  • Shoot players on the opposing team whenever they’re within a certain radius.
  • Hide from opposing players.
  • Camp/snipe opposing players.
  • Stand and do nothing.
  • Set its skill level for accuracy/map awareness/etc.
  • Set initial spawn/respawn locations for the AI.
  • Give the AI perks such as overshields, energy sword/etc.
  • Enable accurate responses according to a set motion tracker/set skill level.
  • Instead of risking your own life testing out your explosions/whatever, risk the life of a replaceable AI!

Aside from testing purposes, you could maybe have an entire game type in which your team is against the AI (Infection?), and I think that would be EPIC! Let me know what you guys think in either the comments or the voting poll I’ve put up!

No bots my friend :frowning: Sorry. BTW welcome to waypoint.

Ahh it’s already been confirmed? ): Nuts…

Btw, thanks! (:

There isn’t a single reason as to why bots should be included anyway.

Pretty sure I just named quite a few.

People would lose interest after 15 minutes of screwing around with bots in forge. It would be kinda cool though.

Good point haha

Well it wouldn’t be that hard. I remember a little game known as Timesplitters which allowed you to create a small campaign style map by placing objectives, AI opponents and even change how the AI acted. If a game on the original xbox can do it, what’s stopping anyone from pulling it off now?

We need more stuff to #include (code joke) in Halo 4. I do not see why this would be a problem. Great post btw.

I used to play Time Splitters Future Perfect with my brother and friend of mine and it was some of the most fun we had in a shooter offline, but only because of the bots. Those bots would actively try to capture the flag, hunt us down, grab better guns and we all around good challenges.

For people without Xbox Live, bots would keep them playing without having to spend money to get xbox live. I would love to play with bots offline with some buddies, but I would still play online because no matter how hard an AI can be, there will always be players that are better.

It would be cool.
Don’t forget scripting them to follow the player

As cool as this would be, it’s not going to happen in Halo 4.

Welcome to Waypoint!
