Will there be an SMG in Halo Xbox One?

Has there been any word on the possibility of the SMG making an appearance in Halo Xbox One? Preferably either Halo 3 or Halo 3: ODST’s version, not Halo 2. It’s my second favorite weapon in Halo.

I don’t play Xbox anymore, PS4 and PC now, but I was just curious. It would just be my luck that the SMG would return after not being in Halo 4 only now that I probably won’t get to play it.

No idea. You see the trailer that they showed back in E3 2013? Yeahs thats all we got of Halo XBO. Nothing more.

I feel like the lack of information is really starting to hurt hype for the next game.

There is a sticky at the top of the forum listing everything 343 and -Yoink!- told us in regards to Halo XB1. If whatever you are looking for isn’t there, its either not confirmed or false.

Everything we know right now, has been stated above.

Halo 3’s SMG and Halo 2’s SMG is more or less the same weapon, just different balancing. Halo 3 ODST’s SMG would be nice to see tho.

There is nothing keeping you from buying a Xbox One later down the road around the time of launch, or after words. There are people here who have Xbox, Playstation, and PC, and game on all three platforms. If anyone tells you that you’re wrong to be gaming on more than just one or two gaming platforms, they are wrong, and jealous of your ability to not care what system you’re playing on, as long as it’s fun.

In some ways, it is, and in others, they are informing us of some things, but just not major details, 343i is still learning the ropes of spreading information, and it doesn’t help when people leak stuff, (Mods, calm down, I’m talking about Halo 4’s pre-release crap), people leaked stuff before 343i was ready to talk about it, and not only caused the community to freak out over the information, but string it out of proportion trying to make sense of the information. But they also cause themselves to be a little more untrusting with information releasing.

I hope that it is in there, although I do doubt this because of the SAW being implemented.

Why? The SAW and the SMG are too different weapon types, for two different uses.

I’m pretty sure it’s going to be in. Heck, 343i were planning on putting it in Halo 4 (looked like the Halo 3 version, but silver), but it got cut (like most things in Halo 4).

I’d prefer the SMG to be a Primary Loadout weapon, with the ODST scope and Bloom. Then have the Machine Pistol from Spartan Assault be a Secondary Loadout weapon.

I think he was referring to dual-SMG’s, not the single weapon.

In that case, dual SMG’s and the SAW are pretty much identical in purpose with the only difference being that the SAW is absurdly overpowered and lacks any drawbacks whatsoever.

I’d be more than pleased to hear that the SAW will not return in Halo 5.

In a gaming point of view, MAYBE, in real life, SMGs are great for close quarters, and SAWs are great for laying down cover fire, and fixed firing positions.

I personally think that both the SAW and SMG should return, BUT, as long as there is no dual wielding (unless they find a good way to balance it), and the SAW should be one of those power weapons that’s only on certain maps.

If its going to be a crappy ‘secondary’ weapon like it was in H2/H3 than I hope the SMG doesn’t return.

But if we got an ODST SMG then I would be fine with it.

I only want it if I can dual wield it.

~ Duck.

It might be balanced in such a way that it wouldn’t resemble a SMG if it is a single use the suppressor is basically a SMG if get down to it . If the ODST SMG was to return it wouldn’t make sense for it to out range an AR and potentially have a faster killtime .

Well, it definitely should be.

Anything that adds a bit more variety to Halo again is more then welcome in my books.
