I see the pre-sale date for series X is now official for Sep 22nd. I was ready to put down my deposit and looking to see what other options I had. I didn’t realize until coming on here, looking to see if there would be a Halo edition console, that Halo wouldn’t be released along with the new system and not until 2021. I get it, not trying to give grief about it. Halo is the only game I really play right now. I was hoping to get a special edition console this time, and wondering if that’s going to be an option this time.
If you tell me there will be a Halo edition console released early in the year, I am 100% waiting.
If you tell me there won’t be a halo edition guaranteed or it won’t be released until the end of 2021, I am not waiting.
Any chance you can help me with this decision? Is there anything I missed or that can be shared? Thank you.

I’m in the same boat as you, i really only play xbox for halo. I purchased the Xbox One Halo 5 edition when that came out. I would assume there is going to be a similar release with Halo Infinite, unfortunately no information on the subject exists. Outside of halo, I’ll probably snag up a PS5 system for the Marvel/Spiderman games and MLB
I feel that even if the game launches in Holiday 21, that would be too soon for a custom console skin. Has Xbox or PS even put out one that quick before?

That said, if 343 want to build Infinite with large full-game sized expansions every 2 years or so, I could totally see them releasing a custom console along the way.
I’d love to see one designed like a Forerunner obelisk, with parts hard matt grey, and sections that are transparent with a blue glow inside. I still have my Halo 4 360 in the attic, it’s so pleasing to look at.
As a side note, the way MS are pushing their 2 year subscription plans, from Fall 2022 there are going to be a lot of customers they’ll be hoping to keep on the console premium price rather than dropping down to simply a game pass sub. I bet they’ll drop plenty of new skins around then; different colours, franchise specific, etc. It wouldn’t surprise me if MS’s plan is to do skin refreshes every 2 years, and maybe slight internal improvements every 4, and beginning to fade out support for the One from there.
I think there will be because Halo 4 and Halo 5 both had special edition console release with the games
I have no idea but there’s always been a Halo Console bundle in the past I don’t see why not now it’s just unfortunate Infinite got delayed otherwise I’d have expected Halo Console announcement very soon. I do expect a Halo console bundle announced closer to Infinite release date but no idea if it’s the first or second half of 2021. I have no confirmation but keep your ears sharp for more info on a Halo console as we get closer to 2021!

They did the Project Scorpio One X as an alternate for pre-order. I was hoping there would be something cool like that this time around as well, but it doesn’t look like it.

I hope I am given a little slack on this one. Pre-orders are starting tomorrow /Tuesday the 22nd. Today is the last day, and a Monday, so hoping there’s a chance I can get a real response to this; Before, what I am under the impression, is pre-order on a limited stock. So I don’t want to miss out if not.

I’m sure there will be something but we don’t know yet. I would also like to know if it’ll be a halo xbox series x or s system. I would also like to know if there will be a series x that’s digital but has the better specs. I’m sure eventually there will be.

OMG for real?!? This is very exiting news, however might as well stick with PS for the Spider-Man and to transfer careers. Thanks for the info!!

Most definitely. There has been a special edition console for each shooter since Halo 3 aside from ODST. So yeah, with this being the next mainline title, there will absolutely be a special edition Infinite-themed Series X.
The Halo console is usually announced less than a week before launch day. There has actually been a Halo consoles since the first Xbox and Halo game came out if the console isn’t announced before launch day for the New Gen Xbox it will be announced sometime before Halo comes out

That’s not entirely true…I pre-ordered the H5 console edition a few months in advance last time around (According to my receipt from Gamestop, I pre-ordered it in August of 2015 with Launch in October 2015). I can’t speak on the other console editions since this was the first one I had gotten.
I’m not even worried about getting a series X. If there is a Halo 6 edition later next year then I’ll buy it, if not then I’ll stick to pc. But I really hope there is one.

Having a PC is the way to go…those will always outperform these consoles.
I hope so. I have all of the previous special edition consoles so it would be a nice addition.
I’ve ordered a series s because I’m banking on a limited edition Halo infinite series x some time next year.
This would be the only way i purchase a series x, as i have moved over to the PC side and plan on getting infinite on there.

Isn’t this first time Halo has not released with the new console? So far all we know is Jan 1st - Dec 31st.
