i really cant stand the bloom on Reach. thats why i quit playing when black ops came out. i heard the title update will make it so the Bloom is configured, but will they have a playlist where the bloom is 100% off? i dont care if its 1% off or 99% off. i despise bloom.
That has yet to be determined, I believe. That’s what the BETA Hoppers are for.
You hate bloom, yet go to a game that also has reticule expansion? I think the Classic Playlist will be no bloom, but I’m not quite sure.
I believe the Beta hoppers will be filled with random gametypes such as No Bloom DMRs, 50% Bloom DMRs and that sort of stuff to see how it plays out and what would go in what playlist.
If you mean No Bloom on Vanilla Reach, it may happen but only in ONE playlist.

When someone says something is vanilla, they mean just regular version. No changes, mods, etc… I haven’t really heard/seen someone calling anything vanilla, except with Minecraft

Vanilla WoW, anyone?

I heard Frankie call it Vanilla Reach, seemed easier than, original reach with no TU changes.
Classic
I believe we’ll have Reach playlists (exactly how it is now), Anniversary playlists (15% less bloom) and No-Bloom playlists (Well…no bloom).
> I believe we’ll have Reach playlists (exactly how it is now), Anniversary playlists (15% less bloom) and No-Bloom playlists (Well…no bloom).
I personally think…
Vanilla Reach (85% bloom, AL Nerf, AC Nerf, etc.)
Anniversary (10-15% bloom, 3SK Magnum, NO AA’s)
No Bloom (0% bloom, AA’s available, etc.)
WHY OH WHY does everyone keep thinking there will be a playlist that has Reach ALREADY in the state that it’s in (currently right now)? What’s the honest to god point? When the TU settings for “Reg. Reach” as I’ve described will OVERWRITE all the old settings.
Isn’t that the point of a TU? To change your world entirely? Not keep it EXACTLY the same.
I don’t think they’d STILL allow people to abuse AL/AC in SEPERATE playlists. They want to keep the fanbases balanced (Vanilla Reach players/Classic/No Bloom). Why have a 4th playlist for people to keep playing the -Yoink!- that is Reach? Seriously…
I can’t wait for a “No Bloom” playlist to show up, just so I can watch these forums explode with people begging to have bloom put back in
Seriously though, I’m sure we’ll see some experimentation with the bloom settings. We’ll see several different bloom configurations appear in matchmaking, with the more popular settings becoming more common over time.
Zero Bloom game types are ridiculous. Wait till you get killed from across the map by a team focused on you. It happens QUICK!
“Zero Bloom” would be awful…
I can already foresee people begging to have bloom back after playing such a playlist.
Zero bloom is still fun, though. Just a bit different.
I see people being forced to jump around a entire game like dummies just to try to help from being killed instantly. Just like any match now in Halo 3. I played it the other day and bloom for ranged weapons was one of the best things they did for Halo.

Did anyone read the update? I remember them saying that bloom would never be 100 reduced, but 15 % to keep it within the outside of the reticle.
> I see people being forced to jump around a entire game like dummies just to try to help from being killed instantly. Just like any match now in Halo 3. I played it the other day and bloom for ranged weapons was one of the best things they did for Halo.
No, it wasn’t. Quite on the contrary, actually. Bloom made luck a much too important factor in gunfights, especially with DMR, needle rifle, and magnum. And as it stands, spamming the DMR at any range is surprisingly effective, which in turn punishes those who pace their shots instead of punishing spammers. And even if everyone were to pace their shots, this only slows down gameplay.
So, no. Bloom is not the best thing ever to happen to Halo. It’s the worst thing that ever happened to it.
H:CE and H2 had it right (aside from H2’s massive aim-assist/bullet magnetism): hitscan weapons where your shots go into the center of the reticle, i.e. magnum, BR, and carbine. Maybe not 100% in the center of the reticle all the time, but close enough to almost guarantee a headshot even at long ranges and even if you fired at maximum speed. And this is what’s missing in Reach, and also what makes Reach the worst game of the series.

By your logic, to fix a spam problem would be to increase the bloom, if you remove the luck factor the game becomes too fast paced and every one is spamming, what your asking them to do is to make spamming easy for everyone.
So your saying guaranteed headshots without even trying at any range is what reach is missing? Really that’s what im talking about right there. The dmr takes skill at long range and even at medium. I pace my shots and never spam and win 1 v 1s 90% of the time and I openly laugh at dmr spammers. Then at close range I just pull our my AR and burst fire correctly depending on range or I just pull out my magnum. Oh and Halo CE had bloom, just there was no indication of it. If you fired your magnum at full speed your bullets when everywhere.
